I donāt think itās cause heās Australian.
I always hoped he would reshape the staff and establish a new identity.
Iāll stand by what I said before Ron left. With the portal and transfer rules in place. You need to be able to identify talent and build a cohesive unit quickly.
The system played shouldnāt require time to understand. If youāre playing a system that players canāt grasp with this kind of turnover, WTH are we doing? I also donāt like us counting on finding a big man that can run an offense every offseason.
We lost everyone of note 24-48 hours before the portal closed. This year is a wash. Next year we will see, but you cannot put all the blame on the coach for this plain and simple.
We are a minor league for other schools, got to figure out something different but this year was never gonna work.
forget talent, that is an individual assessment thing, my biggest issue is they seem to not care or show any effort, at all. This team has no interest in even trying to get a rebound, no one crashes the boards when a shot is taken, they teach that in the CYO leagues to little kids. Even the TV announcers said āitās like ECU is running a blockout rebounding drill in practice, rebounds are hitting the floorā before ECU grabbed it.
?? We only lost Patterson at the last minute. This is completely on Fearne and Staff for not being able to recruit. Samford just hit 20 wins. UNCW on its way to win number 22. Asheville would smoke us and is 19-7. No excuses.
What about the other AAC teams that lost their best players but still win? We arenāt the only ones in that situation. Fearne recruited poorly and should have ran off guys like reiber
Worst and yet funniest moment was EZU Players trash talking our fans along the sideline behind the TV announcers during the final timeout. All those fans do is yell at the refs, but I donāt remember a single thing being said to the EZU players.
Classless individuals.
Second half was awsomely bad.
Good point about other AAC teams, Tulane whom is in 4th place lost their top 6/7 in points and mins for example the announcers said when we played them.
You could argue we should be in better shape than they are, as we retained Graves, whom is a really good scorer.
This basketball program is so far from being relevant the fan base has about given up. It would be nice to just be able to compete with teams in our conference much less on a national level. If this program canāt figure out a way to recruit some real talent and play some real basketball they would be better off lowering our standards by competing in a more regional/local conference.
clt says eCu is going to be trashy in every sport. something is in the water in greenville nc
I think the term clt is looking for is āSTDs.ā
4 star jaylen cross is a good start. No excuse not to do well in portal
According to Coach, āā¦Weāre playing for a lot - we are playing for form, playing for mental form - we must be able to play as well as we can going into that tournamentā¦ā
Personally, I wouldnāt waste the time and travel expense to go to Texas to play a 13 vs 12 play-in game.
Mental form? WTH? Maybe they should try playing with some pride. Overpaid bums.
Agree would like to see some staff changes. I do not think Fearneās philosophy fits some of the staff and is holding him back.
If he sticks with the staff after this year, then it is on him.
For sure. All of our assistants need to go. They stink
I donāt like when our big runs out and half trap a guard then runs back real quick to keep the ball from going inside. Seems like when this happens the other team quickly rotates the ball around and gets an open look. This started with Sanchez and is still being played. Am I the only one that hates this?
Itās called āhedgingāā¦the big is helping contain the guard from getting to the paint. If what you are saying happens and the big gets back to his man than how is it the bigs fault that another player is open when they reverse/swing it?
No experience??? Dude go read his bio. He has forgotten more about basketball than you will ever know.
Lame, lazy comment.
Iām not blaming it on the big, Iām blaming it on the system. It seems like we are a step behind the rotation too frequently. Also seems like it wears out our big man, a position we do not have depth at.
