NBL doesnât matter. No collegiate experience outside of years with Ron. We arenât recruiting the foreign ranks. I saw HPU play on Thursday. Good Freshman big from Australia. How is he not here?
Alan Huss (HPU) or Griff Aldrich (Longwood). You taking Fearne over someone like that? Thatâs the type of low major HC we can hire. Fearne is done and itâs over. You think he has it in him to clean his assistants out? And get rid of the Princeton offense?
This Fearne era is over.
Griff was my choice. Dude would kill it here I bet. He will end up somewhere, maybe even an AAC school, lighting us up some day.
He has no experience coaching college hoops. That is extremely relevant when it cones to recruiting and staffing. Our staff is awful
Fearne seems like the kind of coach who is very stuck in his ways. This system may have been successful in Australia but not in todays current college nil transfer portal. The style is unappealing to watch and tough to play and only effective with the right personnel.
bingo!
I thought the crowd was decent, wish they had more to cheer about. We held ECU to 29 in the first half only to give up 46 in second half when they went off from 3. I am glad Felton is a senior, wonât miss facing him.
2nd home loss to ECU since 1983.
Both under Mike hill.
I donât think we are gonna take a coach from HPU at this point. They have a larger basketball budget than we do. It is amazing how much times have changed at HPU. Aldrich is an excellent example though. Much easier path to win also. If Fearne does not show improvement that is an excellent example of the type of coach we should target.
This forum never ceases to amaze me.
I guess it is what it is. All coaches should be fired. AD should be fired. Any coach we hire will instantly get a âfire the new coachâ thread set up. Itâs all Mikeâs fault. No wait it is all Judyâs fault. No itâs the boards scheming to keep us down. Hire Lutz
Fearne is a very good coach who can and will win. He has adapted his style over this year to a 3/4 guard set and such. The scheme he uses gets guys open. Unfortunately they miss the open shots.
I think he will do well next year with Cross coming in and replacing some Folkes on the team. Pun intended.
Firing coaches every 2-3 years is a fantastic way to completely destroy a program and keep good coaches from wanting to come here. Itâs barely been over a year since he was made the full time coach here.
Hey dlb, stop trying use reason in this forum!!! Whatâs wrong with you?!?!
ECU fan here and believe me while I donât disagree since weâve fired basically every coach weâve ever hired in todays portal era there are coaches with far fewer resources than what Fearne has snagging players to put far more talented teams together. At the end of the day a coach heading for 20+ losses in a single season is ultimately a reflection of either his coaching or inability to identify talented but undervalued players in the transfer portal. With 95% of teams in college basketball having to restructure their roster every single season it might be a net positive to target a coach at a lower level who has managed to get significant ROI out of the transfer portal.
Yes, this is spot on
I know. Silly me
Again. Head coach for about a year.
I donât want to lose our 4 star recruit. That isnât a good enough reason to keep a coach, but damnit how many times do I have to watch that play out? We fire coach X, star recruit ends up in the ACC as their star playerâŚ
I see both sides of this. I think itâs clearly too early to give up on Fearne (and unaffordable) but I also understand why people are angsty about it, we have had zero success in our revenue sports in almost 20 years other than 1 7-6 football season in football that fell apart after that and people are fed up. This year is not acceptable to me, despite there being plenty of reasons out of our control that caused some of it, but we have to give Fearne some more time.
clt asks if you were an english major?
