2024-25 AAC Basketball 🏀

Memphis is undoubtedly the best mid-major team in the country.

They not counting Gonzaga as this stupid “mid-major” label anymore? Still in WCC this season, and Pac12 is just going to be a “power conference” abomination when the MW schools move over.

FAU again trails at halftime in the Charleston Classic but it’s anyone’s game with Drake up 32-28 in round two of the winners bracket.

Busy day for AAC teams as 8 will see action today. Hopefully league keeps pulling in the Ws. Temple gets the lone P5 matchup with Florida State this afternoon at the Mohegan Sun.

No second half rally today for the Boca Owls as Drake prevails 75-63.

Blazers in a tight contest vs Longwood in the Paradise Jam in the USVI.

Now UAB’s turn to lose as AK & Co. fall to Longwood 89-81.

And USF getting boat raced by Middle Tennessee in the MBI.

Preseason fav gonna will have to cut down the nets in Fort Worth to go dancing this season.

clt says Drake is legit

So far Pirates with only AAC win today. Didn’t see that but will take it after USF posted third league loss in falling to Middle Tennessee 95-88.

Mostly a crappy day for the AAC though Shockers did salvage something in the nightcap.

AAC 5-8 so far vs OOC this weekend, including a couple of losses in buy games. So pretty disappointing.

Preseason fav UAB flamed out in the Paradise Jam, all but assuring that the Blazers will need to win the AAC tournament to get an NCAAT bid. In fact, only team likely have the metrics to receive an at large will be Memphis. Of course, that’s going to be contingent upon how the Tigers perform in the Maui Invitational next week. First up is AP #2 UConn on Monday and then either Colorado or Michigan State in round two. (BTW, the other side of the bracket is #4 Auburn, Dayton, #5 Iowa State, and #10 UNC-CH.)

Basically, after Memphis, the AAC is pretty wide open with perhaps the exception of UTSA. Going to be a interesting ride on the journey to Fort Worth!

AAC goes 6-9 this weekend. 0-2 buy games. 0-2 vs so-so P5s.

Reading AP wrap-up of today’s triple OT LSU vs UCF neutral site game at the Greenbrier in WV. Refers to UCF as South Florida - twice!

This is spot on:
