BTW, one-time Niner recruit Elijah Gray of Charlotte hit the GW tonight for Temple.
Because it’s b.s. system used to prop up the power conference members even when they blow chunks.
I’m not that familiar with it. Doesn’t it start with everyone even at the beginning of a season? How else could it be/is it designed to prop up historical favorites?
“The epitome of brutality.” Has he used that phrase before??
Yep definitely Mr. Cliche’s catchphrase.
I was about to ask tge same thing. Theyre slightly better than us
clt says rice is up 4 v unt dallas
yes, unt dallas
No surprise. Should have lost to winless Alcorn State on Monday. AAC hoops are not very good except for the Tigers. Gives Rothstein something to post about.
clt says unt dallas wins.
Are the other programs reeling from having their rosters picked clean like us, or do they have even bigger problems?
I haven’t watched as much AAC hoops this season.
Lesson of the day - when scheduling a non-NCAA right before Christmas, take the regional religious-affiliated school with an enrollment of 800.
Took longer than usual but Mr. Cliche doesn’t disappoint:
IMO, the biggest issue is that basketball just isn’t a priority for the conference. Not saying that it should go to the head of the line - although I am admittedly a hoops first fan - but the reality is it just isn’t that important to the folks in Irving or most of the AAC leadership. Includes things like OOC scheduling, the number of league games, and locale of the conference tournament site - though the latter is finally going to change.
Of course, the biggest exceptions are Memphis and Wichita State with varying results. Really crazy that AAC 2024-25 preseason fav UAB has such atrocious NET and SOS numbers. Yes, team rosters definitely affected by the portal, with FAU and UTSA the hardest hit mostly due to their coaching changes.
Anyway, heard a talking head today discussing the SEC’s incredible run in OOC this season. Didn’t happen overnight but took years due to a concerted effort led by Sankey to get everyone on board. And pretty sure their consultants weren’t pitching a head scratching flex schedule C-USA inexplicably fell for in 2018!
Really interesting seeing Oklahoma - picked to finish 15th in the SEC - ride on the coattails of a freshman who decided to reclassify back in July and enroll early. Sooners are undefeated and #14 in the AP. In fact, OU was on national display last night in the QC as the heroics of frosh Jeremiah Fears resulted in a wild come from behind win over #21 Michigan.
Milestone program win coming against a team from Mecklenburg County in which the GW basket for the Owls was made by a player from Mecklenburg County.
Unfortunately, while the other programs listed in that tweet are among college basketball royalty, Temple is now pretty much irrelevant.
