I lost $100 to that dude a few years ago. I bet him our RPI would beat ECUs. They finished ahead of us. He told me to make a donation. I donated it to Make a Wish.
Kinda respect the dude

Something of a Twitter spat involving NIL agent Chris Wash and MBB writers after former took a swipe at UTSA re: NIL and projecting > 5 Ws next season.

FWIW, there was a response that claimed that Rice has no NIL.
Another intra-conference move:
I suspect these types of home-and-home OOC matchups will become more common as:
A) AAC continues to schedule only 18 conference games as opposed to 20, thus necessitating the need to fill 2 more games on the OOC sked; and
B) it becomes more difficult to schedule higher profile (in name, NET ranking, etc) teams that are only interested in facing an AAC foe on the formerās home court or a favorable neutral site.
364 D-I schools and having to resort to this is ridiculous.
Getting up to speed on the new coaches in the AAC and today itās FAUās John Jakus. Knew he came from Baylor but didnāt realize he was the AHC under Scott Drew. Also learned that he spent time on the staff at Gonzaga, so he definitely knows something about winning programs!
Anyway, Jakus was the guest on the Field of 68 today with Kevin Sweeney. Pretty good interview that comes in just under 19 minutes. Really like his attitude about recruiting (Owls have already filled the 10 available slots) etc, as well as his devotion to family. Realize he hasnāt coached a college game yet - has experience at the high school, AAU and international levels - but seems like the Boca Owls made a good choice. Of course, time will tell!
Should be one of the Owls go-to players next season.

And definitely got jobbed on this play in the NCAAT:
Believe this wraps up recruiting for the Piratesā 2024 class:
Itās super fun watching trash AAC programs out recruit us.
How has ecu outrecruited us? Tyeyre still recruiting lightly recruited hs kids in the portsl era, as well as lightly recruited jucos.
I wouldnāt exactly call Bailey lightly recruited. 4* top 150 per Rivals whose offers inc Butler, CofC, Creighton, Temple, Texas A&M, VCU, VT, and Wake.
Anyway, ECUās 2024 class seems like a good mix of transfers, JUCOs, and freshmen. What remains to be seen is if Schwartz can get the desired results on the hardwood.
Out recruiting us???
Letās wait and see how all of these paid athletes perform. Not only individually but in their respective schools systems.
One thing I see our competition doing that I really wish we would do is going after high school talent. Weāre not going to have a single player in this freshman class if we donāt use the last scholarship on a high school player. We will have Richart as a red shirt freshman but no other true freshmen.
AAC squads in the 2024 recruiting class team rankings per Rivals:
59 Tulsa
75 Memphis
T-77 FAU
T-77 Temple
T-77 Wichita State
I agree. Hope we go after at least one freshman. I just wonder if the coaches think itās not worth the investment due to the max exodus to the portal every season for money or PT. The recruiting strategies have definitely shifted.
AAC listing for 2024 recruiting class team rankings per 247Sports:
66 Wichita State
67 USF
72 Rice
73 Tulane
90 Memphis
102 Tulsa
106 FAU
110 Temple
T-148 ECU
T-148 North Texas

Disagree about the Freshmen or lack thereof. Unless you get a highly rated recruit they are typically not ready for the college game. Their bodies, practice habits, mentality, etc. I think we are better off with guys that have 1 to 2 years in a P6 league even if their numbers were down or low. At least they should know how to eat, train, and cope with college life. I am tired of getting Freshmen who donāt perform well and transfer out. We are their learning curve.
