UC San Diego definitely having an NCAAT at large worthy season. UC Irvine a little shaky on metrics but if those two meet for the Big West tourney championship as expected and the latter prevails, no way UCSD can be left out of the Big Dance.

Bridgeman - a 2x Missouri Valley POY - led Louisville to 1975 NCAA title game, where the Cardinals fell by a point to UCLA. A first round draft pick, played a dozen years in the NBA. Very successful businessman after retiring as a hoopster.
Among his high school teammates in Chicago was Tim Stoddard. Us old timers will remember the latter not only for his role on the 1974 NC State basketball team but his MLB career as a pitcher as well. One of only two athletes to win an NCAA basketball championship and a World Series ring.

If I remember correctly, we played them up there in a snow storm the year we went to the Final Four in 1977 … and lost! Coach Lee Rose was so mad, he took a different plane back to Charlotte separate from the team. Does that sound about right?
