Might want to test the NIL waters…. Can’t blame him for possibly banking some money… don’t know/think it would be huge, but could be significantly more than Charlotte can afford.

I prefer Darling and Honey like the lady down at Bojangles.

Biff was fired after 10 games and a SOS @ #31, 3-9… with two of the 12 easiest games left. The team finished with a 5-9 record after bringing in 71 recruits. There would have been less roster turnover because there wasn’t the same need… adding where needed (linebackers etc). Although raw, Purdie would have greatly benefited from being the #1 in the offseason.
The biggest need would have been a revamped defensive staff… no progress from year 1 to 2 with better players would have made that necessary and the change would have happened.
We’ll never know what could have been… time to embrace the next chapter… New coaches will be named in the coming days, and we’ll see roster additions… can’t wallow in seeing all the players departing and wondering what-if!

I think the biggest change would have needed to be simple effort level. We had much more talent in year two, played a fairly easy schedule, and rarely showed up motivated or prepared.

Motivation and preparation are two things that I don’t see changing year over year, and more than anything else are the sole responsibility of the head ball coach. I am completely fine moving on. The people that don’t seem to be are the people that had some sort of love affair with our large man child that was in charge.

Poggi didn’t want to be here anymore. It wasn’t what he thought it was going to be. He thought he could step in, bring in some guys, plug them in and boom, we would win. He found out the hard way that it’s not that easy

Based on the offers Purdie, Blake and some of our O-line have been getting I don’t think Poggi was keeping this roster together if he hadn’t been fired. It’s just the reality of G5 football today. With up to $20 million in rev sharing coming in next season in addition to NIL at the P4 level there is just too much money being thrown around for players with talent and potential. It’s going to happen every year so we need a coach who can do more with less and can develop bench players who can be ready to step in next season when called on to play. We will still have to use the portal to plug holes but we shouldn’t have to completely rely on the portal to build a roster every season.

Fairly easy schedule lol? I’m not sticking up for Poggi but that’s not a fairly easy schedule.

Indiana
Tulane
JMU
Unc (not great but bowl eligible)
Navy
ECU (bowl eligible but we played well)
Memphis
USF (bowl eligible)

Ohio played: (Albins schedule)
Syracuse (top 25)
South Alabama (bowl eligible)
Miami Ohio (8-5)
Buffalo (bowl eligible)
Toledo

Kentucky (below avg SEC, still tough game)

The team finished 5-7 this year…not 5-9

IIRC, Poggi didn’t have any input on last year’s schedule. No idea how far in advance Ohio U non-con determined.

I know he didn’t. I was replying to someone else who said we had a “fairly easy” schedule this year because our schedule was not fairly easy lol

East Carolina, Gardner Webb, South Florida, Florida Atlantic, UAB and Rice were not good football teams.

The other six were good. We had 6 winnable games on the schedule for sure this year.

How many AAC teams were ahead of us in this?

All of 'em.

You’re right about us playing some good teams. I’m not disputing that. But we only played one really good team. At this point you’re arguing semantics with me to prove your point, and you’re right, “easy schedule” was not the correct verbiage on my part. So great job pointing that out. But we should have bowled easily this year if we had just been a moderately functional program.

We had 6 wins and bowl eligibility (including the money, exposure, and extra practices and development that come with that) ready made and on a platter for us if we just didn’t screw it up. And we screwed it up. 6 games against FPI 80+ or higher. We ended up FPI 120. Only 14 teams in FBS worse than us.

The AAC will likely never be this bad again. We will have to be much better to win 5 or 6 conference games in the future.

Actually none

So we should have cut Poggi some slack for having the AAC’s #1 SOS? Hmm…

He barely beat gardner webb so im not sure that’s how it works
