2024 49er Football Transfer Portal

He didn’t beat Gardner Webb. We were down 3 scores in the 4th and Purdie going down forced him to change QB’s. He would have rode Purdie to the blowout otherwise. He couldn’t even manage a QB position, let alone a program. I cannot believe there are such staunch defenders of someone whose staff literally attacked the fanbase multiple times

More of a “CHAMP” man myself.

Good ol southern “sweetie” plays to a certain group

This. The QB management of the Poggi staff was just plain terrible.

I said I wasn’t sticking up for him. All I was saying the schedule this year was not easy

Both years of QB management was pathetic

Schedule wasn’t easy. We also struggled with the parts of our schedule that were easy.

From the cheap seats my 2 cents is the portal is way, way out of control. We understood that NIL and the ‘collectives’ made most revenue sports ‘transactional’, but annual no strings free agency could harm the golden goose particularly football. I’m not smart enough to know how revenue sharing affects this unlimited free agency dynamic. Most players with 3 or more stars are being tampered with and know where they are going after the portal. The P4 programs like UGA are very good at making sure of ‘plausible deniability’, but the NCAA doesn’t seem to care much. I think one way to bring some sanity to the portal is to put $$$ at risk, particularly the big bags some of the players are getting. Of course, that’s a contract. Brian Kelly cracked me up saying players aren’t evaluating the academic programs and fit when choosing a school. Seems there are fewer and fewer players who are proud of being a ‘True Son’, and getting the conference academic awards. It’s nearly all $$$.

It’s a job / business.

Nothing more now.

There’s a good cross section of these guys who would be practice squad players in the NFL but can get paid better staying in college.

Uhh----depends on which way look at it…I was agreeing with you. Duh.

Hey, there was a staunch defender of Sanchez on here too. Nothing surprises me

At the end of the day, I’d love for all the players to stay and welcome anyone back. I think we had talent that was better than our win total.

However, talent alone obviously doesn’t win the games. I’ll take a competent coaching staff that has to build the team from scratch over a shit show that has all the talent in the world.

Seems to me it’s actually helping the golden goose.

This year saw great ratings and intense interest in the sport.

The talent is more spread out now and there are more upsets and more parity.

I think that will actually lead to more interest by fans.

The downside is the portal and that’s a pain in the butt.

But bottom line there are plenty of players to fill out all the rosters and it’s simply up to the coaches to play this new version of the game.
