2024 49er Football Week 1 - Game #1 vs JMU 8/31 8PM ESPNU

Again, I think Mike Hill should answer for this. Are we to assume these are all isolated injuries and it’s just unbelievably bad luck? Especially when the coach says he gives himself an F for keeping guys healthy. What does that even mean?

Let’s see - we have 71 new players, were 3-9 last year and are on a 5 game home field losing streak, may be without a number of starters in game #1, new #1 QB (assuming he’s not among the injured), etc. How exactly would we be throwing JMU off? Just asking.

My excitement this week came crashing down today……what the hell. How could we not know about this? Are there no reporters at practice? At least let us know who is hurt and who will be stepping up to help us win. I am more than pissed!

I am totally pissed at how this has unfolded. We’re all feeling all is going well heading into the season opening game in four days and we’re blindsided by this revelation that the team will be without 9 starters? How the hell did that happen? Why wasn’t it disclosed before now? This just makes me sick.

Good thing this report came out like 5 mins after I took the money line on us.

Our problems in revenue sports are starting to become statistical anomalies. Like it’s nearly statistically impossible we’ve been as bad as we are at basketball and football for this long. Makes you wonder.

clt asks if they are hurt or injured?

I understand guys can get injured in practice but in all my years of following football I’ve never heard of a team being this beat up before playing a single game. Usually injuries start piling up during the season when guys are truly getting hit during competition.

If players are injured in the sense of they won’t be playing at all week 1, would they not be listed on the week 1 depth chart? If so, what ā€œstarterā€ is not listed on that chart that was put out?

I mean every football team in the country is banged up.

OK, probably a dumb question. What does the OR next to a player’s name denote on the depth chart? Counted 10 such instances. Did a search of acronyms but nothing popped up football or sports related.

Thanks!

Every team does ā€˜or’. It actually is a bit of gamesmanship to throw the otger team off.

after my week at work, yeah I know it’s been only two days but that’s how it goes when your company decides to outsource/rebadge… I did not need this from Biff. I was looking forward to the game as a good escape on Saturday.

WTF

If this doomsday scenario turns out to be true, I will put it in that well-worn, rusty file cabinet of crap labeled: PULLING A NINER.

Not sure anybody has ever accused biff of thinking through his words before he says them.

Will Biff go down as another poor hire by Hill?

Don’t understand why he said this at all. Just feels like more scrutiny placed on himself and the team. Why can’t we just be normal for once?!?!

There is a strong possibility this is BS, and a ruse designed for JMU. The comments were 100% designed to get people talking, and they have succeeded.

I don’t think Biff considered things like ticket sales. So, I’d be willing to bet he gets a slap on the wrist today. Not sure he cares about a slap on the wrist, and I don’t either if we beat JMU.

If this is true though… man mike hill has some 'splainin to do.
