2024 49er Football Week 1 - Game #1 vs JMU 8/31 8PM ESPNU

Too early to tell.

Let’s play the danged game and see if this is all talk or truth. Hell, let’s just win it regardless. Kick some butt, take names, and go home.

We can beat JMU with several combinations of players. I’m not going to get all anxious about it until I see that I am wrong. Go Niners!

If we can beat JMU down 9 starters it’s going to be a good year.

I don’t believe we are down 9 starters but we will see on Saturday. They have all this week to heal up and get ready. I may be wrong but that’s okay too. I will be there pulling for the Niners regardless.

This is exactly what Biff wanted. JMU running with the news, regardless of if it’s true or not.

But if this impacts their preparation, they made a very bad hire as head football coach.

I hope you’re right but Biff is one heck of a poker player if so. That press conference he sounded like a coach that knows he’s outgunned (fighting hard, giving it all you got etc). I agree with clt, I don’t like sad Biff haha.

Mac and Bone said he went from being Spurrier last year to Lou Holtz this one with his effusive praise of JMU.

That being said I still think it’s near impossible to have that many injuries in camp. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Exactly what I told one of our big time boosters. He is checking the real scoop. I just don’t believe it is possible to have that many in a preseason. If so, it is an F- if not, good to get the other team off balance.

I doubt the Dukes are running with the news. One thing for a fansite to do so, while quite another to think a 14+ year head coach with just one losing season would do the same.

I don’t know how many actually believe this is some sort of smoke screen, mental jujutsu from Biff and how many simply want that to be the case. If you do, I hope you’re right. Last year Biff overhyped everything and we finished 3-9, so maybe he’s going the other way this season lol.

Who isn’t on the depth chart that was released that should be playing a lot?

My best advice is to mix in some water during the tailgating and not get dehydrated

If you haven’t listened to this, you might want to. It’s a solid episode.

ā€œORā€ just means 2 players are tied for that position, either could be a 1 or 2

Don’t think it will impact their preparation but if it gets in the heads of a few 18-23 year old players and they think this should be an easy win it could help. Not saying that was Biff’s intent. If it was a smokescreen I think it was more about playing the game they are playing by not naming a starting qb than it was about really trying to get an advantage.

A lot of schools are waiting until GameDay to announce the starting qb. That’s a common practice. If Biff is countering by smoke screening fake injuries then to me that’s very stupid. Just trust your team and what you have prepared for all summer long and play the game in the field.

Time will tell how good a college coach Biff is but one thing is for certain. He is a promoter and knows how to get media talking about Charlotte. Old adage of no such thing as bad publicity certainly has some truth to it. No way we’d be talked about this much if he comes out and says he’s optimistic and looking forward to getting out there to show the fans a great season. Maybe that’s what 150 of us on a message board want to hear but that’s not big picture. We shall see in a few days… For me, I just want something good to happen to Charlotte and hoping this season can bring some momentum.
Go Niners!
