2024 49er Football Week 12 - HOMECOMING - Game #10 vs USF 11/16 3:30PM ESPN+

As intended.

Aristocracy, not meritocracy.

At a minimum, I think Miller needs to go.

He is our OC and our QB coach right? If anything our QB talent eval and management seems to have been one of the worst things on the team. Purdie was a good find, but he’s raw. Max, good kid, but he is not the Ferrari.

From an OC standpoint, other than the Purdie to Blake connections, we don’t put players in positions to be successful often. Our tight ends have flat out disappeared.

I’d argue that as bad as the defense has been, a lot of that rides on the offense. The defense has kept us in games going into the half and then they wear down. If we were keeping them off the field more, I think it would limit some of the second half points explosions.

Bud Elliot on the Cover 3 Podcast questioning how much longer Poggi going to work here around the 1:13 mark.

I think we will see biff for another year if he doesn’t quit. Oz and miller will be gone. Probably other coaches too.

Unless we bottom out and lose the next two in horrific fashion, I’m sure biff gets another year, with one or two new coordinators. But nothing about yesterday makes me think biff has figured this out and we are going in the right direction. I’d be more inclined to give biff the benefit of the doubt, but his immediate arrogance, which I mistook for moxie, has grown really stale and with each bad loss he looks more and more silly. Kind of like Healy towards the end.

Hiring coaches is a crapshoot, I get it. But why do ours always come with an asterisk or some bonkers image. Nothing easy at our school. Man I hope soccer wins today!

I don’t think he fires Miller. He mentioned in the postgame Purdie has a good relationship with Miller. Oz needs to go too of course, our defense continues to struggle against the run and we have given up 95 points in the second half the last 3 games. I am not sure how good we should feel about the next two games, both are 2-8 and we are 3-7. We aren’t putting the fear in anyone.

Which is an even bigger F’up by Hill than just hiring Biff. That’s just laziness by Hill to allow us to become that dependent on a coach for his financial resources. And if Biff is somehow directing his own money into that collective it puts the AD at risk of being penalized by the NCAA if we ever did actually fire him and he starts talking.

clt says purdie is our anthony richardson

arm talent is elite, just needs to make better decisions with the ball

According to hill, most of our nil backed support would stick around if biff leaves

That will come with experience. He has gotten noticeably better over the season including this game until the wheels fell off.

I think this is going to change.

It’s too high for the value delivered unless you actually win championships and deliver sustained winning.

That average salary needs to be pushed down and replaced with bonuses for success that are metric based.

And five years guaranteed is way too long. There need to be university options on some of the later years if the coach sucks.

This is a real business now, not the old boys country club. Time to enter reality.

For example. Indiana extending Cignetti and almost doubling his salary is so dumb. Give the man a big bonus for this year and move on. Odds are very high his results will not be up to this level moving forward. Will he be good? Yeah he probably will. But not this good. He’s already shot his biggest weapon by bringing in all that talent from JMU. That can’t happen again. That avenue of talent acquisition is done. So why can’t the IU administration see that???

Did they do that deal just cause it felt good?

Are they that dumb?

Just give the man a massive bonus for this year and a small 5% bump if you just must raise his salary for your own feels. And move on.

The only positive I’ve seen is no one has blamed the refs yet

The refs were awful in the first half but not the reason we imploded in the second half.

I hope that’s true

How either Coordinator’s keep their job is mind boggling. Don’t get me started on the HC. But when you have the amount of 2nd half production by the other teams it means we don’t adjust at HT or are too predictable. As for the OC, how do you call the pass to the flat that was picked off for a TD by Tulane again when your deep in your territory vs. USF.??? Burn that play please.

While we are at it, fire the Special Teams Coach who thought it was good idea to have J Mack run the ball back on kick offs and starting deep in our territory three straight drives. FC gets you the 25, run backs never even got to the 20. And for the FC on the sideline at the 9…!!! Anyone know why HR wasn’t returning kicks till late in the game.

Sad that this is the product we put out and we are a missed 2pt Conversion and missed FG away from being 1-9. That’s Lambert territory.

Bummed, was actually thinking of 3 game sweep and a possible bowl trip. Not anymore!
