We obviously have to win this game. They are FCS and this would be a bad loss & likely a 0-4 start to the year.
With that said, rather it’s Purdie or Brown starting at QB, I think we get our first win next week. Hopefully no more injuries after this one

Are we going to beat Gardner-Webb?
We are going to have to do it with an 18 year old QB
I will take the 18 year old quarterback we are going to have to do it with. Purdie seemed to get more comfortable as the game progressed yesterday. He started shaky but that was a heckuva spot to get thrown into. He responded well all things considered. Hoping he continues to improve.

Felt like Purdie had better pocket presence and moved in the pocket smoother than Max. He sailed a few balls and needed to run on the 4th and 1 play, but considering he stepped into the position on the road at a P4 stadium behind and with a back up center with low snaps every time, I thought he did really well. He throws beautiful deep ball.
I’m ok with max coming back but I like what Purdie showed. Give him a week of prep time and a game plan for him and maybe we can get something going. Also need to get Rutledge involved on offense.
Pretty simple tho, have to score TDs when you are at the goal line and get off field on third downs. We also won’t play another game with the refs as partial as they were yesterday. I don’t think refs made the difference in Ws and Ls, but some of the holds that weren’t called were absolutely impactful.
Lastly that is such a sterile environment. If we had thrown our normal tailgate with the ambulance there we probably get arrested

Charlotte needs to come out with something to prove in this game not scared of a FCS private school. We have a bigger roster and supposedly FBS level players. I want to see the same level of energy that I saw in Chapel Hill if not more. I don’t want to see the same lackadaisical home game performance where we can barely score. I’d like to see us put up 30 points and that isn’t a crazy ask in modern college football.

Yeah there’s no moral victory or finding a positive spin if we lose to Gardner Webb. When we’ve had losses to FCS opponents it’s been a sign of a disaster season coming (2017 A&T, 2022 W&M).
We’ll likely be heavy favorites Saturday. A big, confident win going into the game at Indiana would be great. We have to start winning some games, particularly at home.

Let’s get behind Purdie and the guys Saturday! 18 year old being thrown in there in Chapel Hill and did an admirable job. I think we can make a difference positively with Purdie
