If all QBs are healthy, who is your 1st, 2nd and 3rd string?
Iām assuming coaches saw what the ceiling was for Ivey was last year and I guess they see a higher ceiling in Max Brown and Purdieā¦ but how about their floors?
Hereās mine if all were healthy for game 4. I have more confidence in Ivey at the moment until he happens to stall.
1- Ivey
2- Brown
3- Purdie
BUT if one qb is having a bad start and isnāt moving the offense in the first half, the coaches need to have a short leash and make a change to the next qb to see if they can kick start the offense.
purdie has all the talent in the world but doesnāt know how to play QB at this level. He is a year maybe 2 away.
Max should start if healthy. If not, you have to start Ivey and just try to get your best athletes the ball in space, with quick throws because our OL cannot pass or run block.
Max, if healthy, should be the starter. Then Ivey just for his experience, because Purdie looked lost against an FCS school. The fumbles were atrocious and his overall IQ seemed to be lacking
Purdie may be the most athletic but he does not show he has field awareness, poise and QB iq to earn the starting job. There could not hv been a sharper contrast between the 2 QBs last night. Purdie fumbled at least 4 times, 1 out of bounds, 1 we recovered, and 2 to GW. If Biff starts Purdie vs Indiana and itās another flop, well, more and more people will call for change. As they should.
Brown - talented and was improving before injury
Ivey - very smart QB
Purdie - talented kid that is not ready. He was not put in a position to succeed last night. He did himself no favors being loose with the football either. QB of future but not now.
Based on the cast and arm sling Brown is out for another few weeks.
I really Like Purdie and think he has a bright future. His ball security was terrible. Without his turnovers ( 1 a pick 6) we hold GW to about 10-13 points
Right now Ivey gives you the best chance to win. May have been my eyes but O appeared to play harder and sharper when he was in.
The whole team played better when Ivey came in OL, tight ends and receivers. And Henry Rutledge wax inserted at that time for some strange reason. Like the playbook magically opened up. Amazing!!!
Oddly enoughā¦Ivey is exactly what we need for this team.
We have a lot of offensive weaponsā¦great tight ends and RBs that can catch and go. But Max and Purdie hold on to the ball FOREVER. The only thing Ivey did different is he got the ball out QUICK.
You canāt get sacked if you get the ball out as quickly as he doesā¦and with our weapons thereās always someone open or available to dump it down to.
Heās battle tested, older, experienced and getās the ball out quick.
Heās the 3rd most talented QB on the roster but is the the perfect QB for what we need the QB position to be right now.
I have to agree with how fast he makes the reads and gets the ball out. That and the play calling in general were the difference. Letting Rutledge and Wilson get touches in space was huge.
It is kinda crazy how Max looked meh, gets hurt and Purdie gets thrown in, offense seems to click better and moves the ball and we score. Then Purdie looks bad and Ivey gets thrown in offense seems to click better and we move the ball and score.
