2024 AAC Football season 🏈

I feel confident in saying that if Charlotte had not beaten ECU 2 years in a row, Mike Houston would still be coaching in Greenville, NC.

Had he honored his commitment in Charlotte, it’s quite possible he would be in discussions regarding available P4 opportunities. You never know.

The funny thing is, none of the current staff or players were part of that whole debacle. It’s us and Mike Hill that were in that morass.

So from an “on the field” perspective, the Houston thing had no effect on performance.

Just a good old fashioned ass-beating.

Posting this here too since it’s AAC related:

Never had a winning season - overall or in conference play - while at Rice.

After having two bowl seasons in a row? Wow that still seems pretty brutal, 6 wins is not a layup, guess their requirements are a bowl game every year.

Dr. Reginald DesRoches became president of Rice in 2022. While earlier at Georgia Tech, he served as the school’s faculty athletics rep and also served a term as VP of the ACC leadership team. So he knows something about college athletics. And a coach who is 24-52 (12-25 C-USA / 5-7 AAC) isn’t getting it done.

Expectations with overlaps SMU, Tulane, Miami, Duke which are really trending on the football field right now.

Do we have any expectations about making bowl games and accountability?

Speaking of SMU and Duke, that was quite a game last night. Ponies tried to give it away with all those TOs the Blue Devils didn’t fully capitalize upon as well the kicking team woes that contributed to Duke’s loss.

Anyway, not sure what incentives are built into Poggi’s contact vis-a-vis bowl games.
