2024 MBB Recruiting Thread šŸ€

Hopefully, he is like about 25 percent of these kids and will change his mind and re-enter the portal.

Yes, a player visit usually doesn’t merit such but with what seems like a gag order on recruiting news as of late, good to know we’re out there looking. Of course, wish I hadn’t had to find out on a Davidson sports fan board!

I wonder why he chose Davidson over Charlotte. Better NIL, education, playing time? Just seems like he could get more exposure in the AAC but who knows.

Bitch !

Steph curry talked the shooter into going to Davidson

I would think that Davidson’s history with international hoopsters played a part. Plus he’s already gone through the NBA pre-draft process, so he’s a known commodity. If Blums is as good as advertised, probably starting from day one for the Cats.

Didn’t even notice that when I chose that particular picture from the ones he posted on Instagram.

Maybe Kylon Blackmon can help us land his teammate from Coastal. Looks like he just got an extra year of eligibility.

Might be holding on to the final scholarship/not using it

Well, if we can avoid another ā€œswoop inā€ like with Davidson last week, maybe we can get it filled.

I just don’t see any point in holding on to a scholarship with an almost completely new roster. We really don’t know what we have or how everyone will mesh together. Just seems like you would want to add as much talent as possible and have plenty of options on the table. We also have 4 or 5 players with only 1 year of eligibility so we will have a lot of spots to fill next off season even if everyone else stays by some miracle. In todays environment I just don’t see any advantage to holding on to an open scholarship.

Do we have anyone we are involved with that’s worth giving it to?

I’m not aware of anyone at the moment.

Really hasn’t been a lot of accurate reports this year of who we are after. The guard from Coastal is the only commitment that I saw us linked to before commiting. But yeah it definitely needs to be someone worth giving it to. My point was we really won’t know what we have and who was worth giving a scholarship until practice starts and closer to the season. I just don’t think shutting it down and not trying to bring in more talent to compete for playing time this early makes much sense. Especially with over 1,000 players still left in the portal. There has to be someone who can help us still out there.

Definitely hasn’t been as much info this season, especially on the high school recruiting front. As I mentioned last week, only reason I knew about Latvian Robert Blums’ UCity visit is because I was following up on his commitment to Davidson to see what our cross-county foe was getting in their latest foreign player.

Anyway, between the portal, JUCO, and high schoolers, there’s got to be a player out there for the Niners.

I agree. And you can’t just leave a slot open. With the revolving door system we have it’s like every player is a free agent every year.
