Havenāt witnessed any in Paris but have here in the US. Actually first one I remember was being in junior high school and the 9th graders staged a walk out for reasons I canāt even recall now. Police were called and arrests were made - back in the early 1970s.
Even earlier was living in Boulder while my mother was at the University of Colorado. City has a large star display thatās lighted during the Christmas holiday and one year someone(s) painted the white bulbs with red paint!
Donāt get me wrong. France is awesome. I want all that free stuff, long vacations and short work week and still live in a nice country. Seems cool to me.
On a visit to the UK it was railroad workers on strike in Scotland that prevented a planned side trip to Glasgow.
And I remember being in Paris with which seemed like mostly Americans and Japanese. Was told at the hotel that many Parisians left during the summer months to get away from all the tourists!
Donāt get ME wrong, either. I was responding about historical stuff and not France today. Iāll reserve comment about socialism vs. capitalism because that subject is far too complex except to say that the free stuff of which you speak is far from free. Apologize if sarcasm went over my head.
Been watching the T&F trials tonight and havenāt been disappointed. The womenās 5000m was the one of the most exciting events. And the fact that St. Pierre and Cranny were lapping other runners as they raced to the finish line just boggles my mind! A Florida Gator actually led most of the way but she was left in the dust during the final 800 meters.
