My first time watching a WNBA game from start to finish. Interesting format for this ALL Star game. Did I hear it said that this was the second time the ALL Stars defeated the Olympians.?
Yep, defeated Team USA in lead up to the 2021 Tokyo Games as well.
Clark had to enjoy that payback for being snubbed.
The even bigger question is why Ogunbowale isn’t on the team.
The USA women are so dominant that they have the luxury to let “politics” have a big part of the team selection.
I hav not studied this much but I assume the “politics” is just favoring older players who have been in the system.
I’m sure the younger players will get their time.
Perhaps Ogunbowale would have been selected for the Paris Olympics team if she hadn’t withdrawn from consideration but here we are three years after she was first named Team USA vs Team WNBA game MVP in 2021 and it’s deja vu all over again! Of course, organizational politics transcends sports, so nothing unique to the American Olympic team selection process.
This is what sunk the womens soccer team. They should have flipped the roster but held on to the old star one cycle too long.
Honestly, this is the best team that Team USA will play. This also happened in 2021. This doesn’t worry me.
The men’s team has shades of 2004. Hopefully they learn from this game.
