2025-26 49er MBB Game #5 @ App State 11/21 6:30PM ESPN+

just wondering, why do you think we have better talent? we scored 8pts in the last 7mins of the game, in winning time. Missed wide open shots, waiting until the shot clock was expiring to rush a shot. Not at all saying app is a crazy talented team. I know all these guys can play, we see their highlight tapes on youtube or 247 when we recruited them. But for some reason, we go on long periods of not being able to score every game, except Ind St. Vegas seemed to think they were a better team, we were 1.5pt underdogs, lost by 2. Amazing how they can do that

Vegas is pretty amazing. As for thebetter talent thing, they were better at their previous stops, bigger, and a bit of theeye test. We are just wildly inconsistent. Mingo, for example, can hit that nice contested turnaround jumper, but also miss a wide open 3. Bonke, they have no one with his, or mading’s size or skill.

I believe we have 3 frontcourt players that are athletic and play strong and that is unique for us in terms of not seen since Major/Lutz days and we need to adapt to that style of play. Which is different than the Fearne/Ron style of the past.

Just my opinion but we need to stop that 10 seconds of weave far away from the basket, instead get it in the Post early if need be work from inside/out. Noticed Fearne would push our guy with the ball who had it at half court to the sideline to start that weave the 2nd half of the game, allows the D to set up.

I was impressed by the talent on App as well, liked their Suisse freshmen name started with y, they really played complimentary team ball. Not that we didn’t.

They had 23 tries to our 11

We haven’t had a strong on court leader in years. Even our talented guys didn’t really have leadership qualities.

We clearly have much more individual talent, but they are not playing well as a team yet and our coaching strategies/ game plans are not good, imo. In other words, our individual parts are better than the sum right now.

watch this boston celtics GIF by NBA

SweetGeorgia Brown playing in the background all that is missing.

I guess we need Curly Neal.

I get grief here over one QB prediction. When can we start listing all the things MeanJoeGreene was right about?

Mike Hill

Sanchez

Covid

Austin Pea Healy

High school Biff

Watched replay, agree officiating was awful but still should have won. I continue to dislike our perimeter defense. How many layups did they get with a simple pick, our big chases the ball handler out to half court only for him to loop around to the other side of the lane. They did that 4 or 5 times and we don’t adjust, that’s on the coaches. Only reason we built the lead early is because we got hot from 3, then cooled off and struggled to score.

Per ESPN team stats/play by play:

Charlotte
• points in the paint = 30
• layups made (attempts) = 8 (21)
• dunks = 4

App State
• points in the paint = 26
• layups made (attempts) = 9 (15)
• dunks = 1

We all predicted most of this. I musta been gone on the Covid thing. What was that about??

We have to stop with the buyouts. Please stop with the buyouts

Being right in those instances is easy. All you have to do is complain and say he/this sucks.

What is harder is giving the new person a chance, trying to support them and give them an opportunity to be good and then formulating an an opinion when more data has come in.

I hated the Major hire but gave him chance. I hated the Biff hire gave him a chance. I didn’t like Ron but the hire made sense. It’s far easier to bitch and then say look I was right than it is to
support programs and hope it works out.
I probably hated Judy more than anyone besides tom collie but I always had season tickets, always donated.

I totally get people not wanting to blindly support and hope it works out, but i think firing hill was a major step forward so I’ll be a little patient until we see who our new AD

Every new hire should get blind support, even if you dislike them, until proven otherwise. They can’t turn anything around if the fanbase doesn’t support them.

Classic Niner fandom is expecting everything to be great without contributing anything and bitching about everything.

It’s why I don’t bitch about losing games anymore. I’ve steered all my donations away from basketball and football so I can’t say shit. I still have expectations for the overall AD though as I continue to support the greater program regardless of who the leader is - Judy or Mike or whoever is next.

That’s whiny crazy talk. These failures were sucking long before they should have been fired and long after they should have been fired.

No it’s reality. It’s fucking easy and lazy to just hate on things bitch and complain. Especially when you hate on it at the start before these hires have a chance. The only way this shit gets fixed is if we give hires a legit shot and support them. Without support it doesn’t matter who we hire. So if you want pat yourself on the back for being right when many of us just keep busting our asses to make things better go right ahead but that’s an asshole move.

Just because you think you are never wrong, doesn’t mean you are always right. I don’t need pats on the back, or a fuckin ambulance, at least not until I do

I think you are missing the point. It doesn’t matter who we hire if they don’t have support. It’s why regardless of hires at the coach or AD level I have continued to support the program as best I could and have a positive impact. That doesn’t mean I liked the individuals or that I believed in them - but without support I know they will fail. With support maybe we can find success.

Yeah take shots at the ambulance and all the volunteers hours me and many others put in and the money we raise if it makes you feel better. All the constant bitching does is make things harder. Be critical when appropriate sure but puffing out your chest when some hires you didn’t like fail while many of us did all we could to help them regardless of our feelings is just a dick move.

Tell it to Jesus. There would be no constant complaining bitch, if there was no constant losing
