Holes aren’t going to fire a guy for blowing a lead in an NCAAT opening round game only to replace him with a guy who got fired after blowing a lead in a conference tournament game that had NCAAT implications.

I thought I had read that Donovan had withdrawn his name. He seems like the likely hire at this point.
Most recent thing I heard was that Donovan wants to coach the Bulls through the end of the 2025-26 NBA regular season, which is next Sunday.
Hard to believe that they are not going to have a coach in place before the transfer portal opens. Love it! 
So far only Tar Heel who’s announced he’s entering the portal is freshman Isaiah Denis of Charlotte. (Niners also recruited the 6-4 SG out of Davidson Day.) Looking for PT after averaging less than 4 mpg in only 10 games this season.
Frosh phenom Caleb Wilson is a projected lottery pick, so he’s gone. Add in a couple of seniors and that’s at least 4 roster openings.
Moreover, thus far none of the 3 HS players committed - including 5* Dylan Mingo - have re-opened their respective recruitments.
Of course, likely to be some more defections etc once the new HC is announced. Right now seems like Sean May and Jeff Lebo are keeping everything together.
I was thinking May might win the championship tomorrow then leave. That would be pretty badass.

Donovan at least coached in college basketball to a high level of success in the past.

I’m sure North Carolina will hype this hire as they did Belicheck. In reality, Malone is an out of work pro coach that was fired a year ago. The last time he coached in college was as an assistant coach in 2001. You are not going to read or hear about those facts in the news.
