Gotta love it. Pay him a few hundred thousand dollars to come play for us, he plays around 40 minutes the entire season and immediately leaves for greener pastures. I wish him the best.

I have a feeling those pastures won’t be greener

Yes, true that Buffs basketball has severly lagged in funding but that appears to be changing under new AD.

In the 2025 fiscal year, Colorado spent around $8.6 million on men’s basketball, dead last among power programs. Doubling that would put annual expenditures at over $17 million, a mark that’d rank third in the Big 12 and 15th in the country.

Maybe not the pastures, but I’m sure his wallet will be greener.

He better improve his picks, although given what they call a pick nowadays he might be fine. His decision making with his hands on the ball is not good.

Colorado also signed Justin Neely of UNCG. Was hoping the Niners would be in the mix for the 2026 SoCon 1st Teamer but with his numbers (17.9 ppg, 11.5 rpg) that wasn’t going to happen. Will be playing 6th year after missing most of 2 with injuries

Anyway, Buffs also landed Noah Feddersen (8.4 ppg, 5 rpg) of North Dakota State, the 2026 Summit League 6th Man of the Year. Assuming Gomez will be his backup.

That leaves Villar as only the one to yet find a landing spot.

See that Fearne had a hand in Gomez landing at Colorado. Buffs assistant Nate Tomlison - also an Aussie as well as a CU grad - played in the NBL during the same time Fearne was coaching in that league.

β€œWe’re always aware of international recruits,” [Colorado head coach Tad] Boyle said. "(CU assistant coach) Nate Tomlinson knew the previous coach at Charlotte (Aaron Fearne, who was let go in March) and had a relationship with him, so we did our homework and moved pretty quickly on him.

β€œHe was pretty much an under-the-radar guy. Sometimes when you get hurt, you’re out of sight, out of mind. But the fact that he had surgery, his foot is going to be healthy, and he’ll be ready to go. It gave us an opportunity to pick up a really talented player.”
