I think what they are saying is we have 3 talented QBs and until the season starts we donāt know which one is going to take the lead. There isnāt a clear cut #1, but unlike some previous seasons we arenāt wondering IF we have a QB that can play. We have 3 that can - only question is which is the best of the bunch and what is our new coach going to prioritize from the position?
I am just glad we donāt have a coach over hyping a transfer QB that never done anything then turns out not to be a QB1.
I agree with much of the above. I donāt expect a starter to be named until a week before the game, but at that point, I do expect one person to be named as the starter. We just donāt know who that will be. I definitely do not expect any sort of platoon system, alternating them. I expect a starter and two backups. Now, on the off chance that two of them are very, very close, something I have seen done would be to start one QB, and then have the other QB start in the second quarter. At the half, one of them becomes the starter.
This is exactly the way that I think it should be done. Rather than bringing in one guy and saying āthe job is yours to loseā, bring in multiple talented people, and give them all an equal chance to earn the job. I like it.
As far as which of the three will become āTHEā quarterback, I have no idea. Note that Wilcke appeared to be well behind the other two in the Spring, but that was because he was hampered by a high ankle sprain. Heāll have a chance in the fall to show what he can do, and he has as good a chance as the other two.
Thats during the regular season, you shouldnāt be waffling between QBs, but before the PRESEASON even starts. ā¦no, that doesnāt apply.
When you have multiple viable QBs itās worrisome that the coaches may have a short rope on the starter.
Hopefully whoever earns the start takes the opportunity and runs with it.
Not any more or less worrisome than having only one QB that can play and then being worried every time they get hit.
All this about not having a quarterback is our opinion. Coach may already know. Biff isnāt here any more. We need to give Albin a chance. Heās done this before.
We need to start fast. This will be a home game for Appalachian so we have to do our best to keep their crowd out of it. Their transfer QB Swann scares me but I think Albin will outcoach their new guy
Home game for app? How so?
I think app will have more fans there, but we will have a good showing too.
clt says appy will have a lot of grads there. someone has to run the concession stands and take out trash
From what I understand our club outsold their club, Iām sure theyāll have a bunch of people there but donāt sleep on the Niners.
Our club is bigger than theirs so not surprising we outsold them and we typically have a good turnout when we do anything uptown, but they will have a strong showing with late game ticket buys.
I think they will have more folks there but it wont be by a large margin. The fact that they have been struggling and are breaking in a new staff will keep their crowd size down to a degree.
clt hopes this is a one and done event. much rather play this at the Rich, and tailgate properly.
We have a 5 (?) year series with them after this. This was just tacked on because we needed a game from joining the AAC and having to drop the ECU series. We will be playing app at the Rock and the Rich for the foreseeable. This was a good idea and fairly last minute too, so props to both ADās for making it happen
Will be a great ESPNU game for both programs, never hurts to host that kind of thing in uptown kinda like the baseball games at the knights park.
We really made it work out when we played the covid game at boone with a empty stadium and get the return game here with a full stadium. It was a 4 game series starting in CLT then they tacked on the 5th game as the return game for 2020.
I love playing them at BofA as long as itās neutral site. Itās like 7 home games for me.
