The best defense is ball control offense, which Charlotte failed at. Charlotte only ran 54 plays, while App State ran 88 and had the ball for 34 minutes.

Yeah I get that but for most of the game we were giving up 8 to 15 yard passes with no one in the vicinity of the receiver. They were just taking what we were giving them and we never adjusted. That in itself is going to lead to a huge difference in plays per team. I was really surprised to see that their time of possession was less than 8 minutes more than ours. I know thatâs a lot but it felt like we just couldnât get off the field on defense. But I agree the offense didnât help. Couldnât do anything right except for special teams.

Coach said they kept flooding the Zone successfully, not sure why we stuck with the zone. I believe he also said they had no problem with picking up our 6 rushers when we tried that.
Maybe we dont have the personnel to play man.
The weather was fantastic for the game. A lot of energy in the stadium and the game had a big time atmosphere. That said, I hope we donât play in Bank of America stadium very often (once every 10 years or less). If we played someone like Wake Forest there, it would probably be lame. The novelty will wear off. Also, the cost of parking and concessions are sky high.

Love the punter, that is all I have positive to say, Alhough, I would love to see a little less of him.
I sure hope you guys are right about Albin, But the penalties and playcalling were not a good look.
Surprised no one has mentioned the clusterfâk that was at clutch.
I only stayed there because I was waiting for a friend that works uptown to meet me there to go to her first game. We stood in line 20 minutes to get a drink from a bartender with a bad attitude. Only 2 girls working behind the bar. Everyone around me was complaining. I guess that was a sign of things to come.

I mean not only are many members new to the team, the coach is also new to the team. you can only watch film on so many of the ~1,000,000 kids you have on a roster.
In-game adjustments are probably justified, but itâs hard when youâre not the most familiar with the talent. That probably wonât be fixed until the end of the season.
Good news for us, we still dominate App is math and good vision. Their skills at counting humans has degraded over the years.

I suspect that the reason Brown wasnât in more is that he only joined the team a couple of days before kickoff. After a full week with the team, this week, I would expect that he will play more. I expect we will see more than a few things change this week, but what, I have no idea. I hope they work better.
Playing App in the first game of the season isnât ideal. Honestly, If I could, Iâd make these the last game of OOC. Thereâs enough interest in this game as an entity in itself to justify both teams getting up to speed with a few games under their belts first.
