Agree Nineradvocate, thanks Benson for these detailed writeupās. Tough to get through where we are now, but really looking forward to this amount of detail when we start running some Wās together and playing games that really matter. I am always interested in comparison of O-Lines and D-Lines going into a game. Is there any way you can add that info on the starters into your stats? Nice to know what size advantage we have or are giving up. thanks
I just hope to see the Niners play hard, make it a good gameā¦not let USF open up a can of whoop-assā¦keep it exciting till the end. Win or lose, doesnāt matterā¦letās just play like we belong in FBS. We do that, Iāll be fineā¦make it a competitive game.
If this is still a game in the second quarter ill be thrilled.
Thatās the kind of high bar expectation Mike Hill has set. I will be thrilled when we stop losing, which wonāt be anytime soon.
If you had to target any school, which school would you want Mike Hill to be the AD of?
Bishop Sycamore
I think heād do great at a school with really deep pockets. His inability to find significant new money has impacted everything and it was the same challenge Judy had. Iām not sure whatās worse, Judy ignoring the money in the city or Mike trying and not being to get to the money in the city.
Until we have a leader who can tap that wealth I donāt see thing significantly changing for us it was always import but in this era of college sports itās literally everything.
I think that money from the city would rather go into the academics instead of the sports stuff
Money SHOULD want to go to academics; thatās totally appropriate. The core function of a University is academics. However, once the football team starts winning, money will find itās way there, too, especially if the coach is the type of person that provides a good image for the University. Ironically, though, the more the football team wins, the more money will flow to academics, too. Thus, itās a win-win situation.
Note: I didnāt say āif the football team starts winningā. It will start, at some point, and if not under Albin, under some other coach.
The issue is for most programs to start winning it takes a capital investor or two who buys into a vision. As one of former AD employee who had been at multiple schools, he told me rarely is it winning then money. Itās usually money then winning then more money.
Thats was before paying players, itās even more true now.
Generally speaking academic giving and athletic giving are two separate sources of money. They do not cross over typically.
Back on topic - 42 - 13 Bulls
Years ago I used to periodically compare growth in general endowment to athletic success. Teams that do well in football almost always have faster growth in the general endowment. Thatās why people who are anti-sports kind of bite their tongue on the subject most of the time.
Absolutely agree that solid athletics can impact academic giving.
Generally though people/companies donāt give to sports and academics from the same money pot. Winning sports creates more academic giving. Itās why complaining about athletic giving is stupid. That money wasnāt going to academics either way.
Weāre gonna win this fucking game
I donāt think Mike Hill would be great anywhere. Throwing more money at a pile of shit donāt change that itās a pile of shit. Thatās all we get from Mike Hill a pile of shitty results, excuses and empty slogans.
I get it. U hate him.
From an admin point of view heās done great. Non rev sports where money is less an issue heās done fine.
Conf and marketing heās done fine.
Hes struggled with football and basketball and both of those are very reliant on money.
Heās also done very poorly as a fundraiser.
CFN prediction: USF 41, Charlotte 13
Which again goes back to not being successful at football and basketball. No one thatās not an Alum or already closely associated with the university wants to jump on board to donate to mediocre or losing programs.
