2025 Baseball - AAC Championship @ Clearwater, FL

19 pitchers on the roster and only 1 is doing their job!

If we lose today are we going to get an NCAA bid?

No. That’s been off the table for a while. RPI around 60.

Pathetic ending to the season. Seems we had a,pretty solid regular season team, but next to nothing in terms of post season ballers.

I hate to say no balls, especially since that was about all we saw from our pitchers today…but…

We dont need 18 pitchers on the roster if we’re going to run out the same 5 or 6 all season.

As a fan, I can take a loss. But today was hard to choke down! Agree with the analysis of the pitching here! I thought we were supposed to be a pitching school, but we have one arm! Among us! GET SOME PITCHERS!

I watched all but a few games this year and i know our staffs numbers looked good on paper, but other than BG all year and JT for about 2/3 of the year, it seemed like a very average staff. Today, and yesterday really…the law of averages caught up to us. This “average” staff reminded us that averages can sometimes include very high numbers and other times verrrrrry low numbers.

Impressive that their starting QB could come out and throw 95+ fastballs!

Hmm. I believe someone else on here mentioned that same thing about pitching but here we are going nowhere fast. Again, how much of this is due to coaching and recruiting? Inquiring minds.

The key to the tournament was Thursday. We had a 3-2 lead despite only having 2 hits. Then Pruett no-hit us for 5 innings. On just 66 pitches, btw. Pretty efficient. If we hit, we win.

Getting Friday off opens up all kinds of possibilities for your pitching staff. Look at which teams are playing for the title: the ones that won on Thursday.

As disappointing as Clearwater was, it was still a good season. 36 wins. 2nd place in the league.

Side note: Can anybody tell me who led the country in fielding percentage as of yesterday?

We did. What do I win?

You win another question.

The NCAA has been tracking fielding percentage for 68 years. In that time, only 16 teams have posted a fielding percentage of .984 or better.

Wanna guess what ours was?

Makes it even more ridiculous to still not win enough for an at large bid.

In basketball if we hit wide open threes, we win. Simple, hunh?!

In basketball’s case, let’s start with the broad side of a barn.

.984?

You sir, are en fuego. :fire::fire::fire:

I dont think anyone brought their A game to Florida aside from Gillespie. Our pitching was disappointing, offense disappeared for several innings at a time. There was a huge contrast in our AB’s vs our opponents in the 2 games we lost. They sat back and made our pitchers throw strikes, we were aggressive and made it easy on their pitching. We didn’t throw strikes and they didn’t have to.

Really inexcusable to get no hits over 5 innings from some Joe Schmoe Eastern pitcher. As others have said, our season ended at that point.

Overall this pitching staff has been one of the better staffs that we’ve had. Everyone had their ups and downs but overall the ups were better than the downs. I think the numbers will back that up. I’m not looking them up but I know we led the conference in ERA & Ks among many other categories.

It is unbelievable that our AAC pitcher of the year had 4 losses the way he pitched this season.

Of course I’m pissed about the way this season ended, but I do realize we had a good season.
