I was referring specifically to a 3 game series against the Pirates. Some would less colorfully refer to luck, rather than gods. Just trying to allay your fears of being embarrassed in front of your friends.
All of which has little to do with our season as a whole.
Maybe the ECU series will suck for you and possibly it won’t.
We have given up an average of 10 runs per game for our last 3 losses. That is a heck of a lot of runs. It is hard to outscore that amount.
Excuses are great until a person runs out of them. I hope everyone is right and that this is just a blip and we go to the CWS. I’m not seeing it though. If we turn this around, I will become a believer. I hope we do so. Go Niners!

I’m not going to cherry pick 3 games. I’m looking at the season as a whole compared to past seasons. Our pitching numbers are better than most teams under this staff. Walks are down, ERA is down, WHIP is down. And those numbers include last night’s debacle.
Our offense is scoring 5.3 runs per game which is the lowest since Hibbs’ final season.
The team is 3-5 in 1-run games. Seems to me, from watching these games that we are coming up short in crunch time with the bats.

That might have been our most well-rounded game of the year. Kribbs was efficient and we did a great job working pitch counts at the plate. At the end of the 6th, both Kribbs and their 2nd pitcher of the day has a out 75 pitches. The starter had already been run out after 90 pitches in 3 innings.
