I think this upcoming game is Loftis. Maybe we see the other guy if garbage time comes up. Iām curious about him though. And maybe Loftis plays better with starter reps through the week

Man, Shi% ass luck, the QB we spent a lot of our limited NIL bucket on goes out. 2 years in a row. IMO we have not had a FBS level QB since Reynolds

I could be wrong, but I think giving Loftis reps with the 1ās during this bye week will make him a manageable QB1. If he can just manage the game, he may surprise some folks.

I donāt think we spent that much on harrell, and our nil isnāt thst limited.

Iām worried Loftis may struggle if the O-line allows pressure like they did against Rice. It may have just been due to being thrown into the fire after the Harrell injury but Loftis did not do well under pressure or when the play broke down and he needed to improvise. Hopefully that improves with more practice with the first team and knowing heās starting going into the game.

If we donāt block for Loftis, he is going to complete more passes to the other team than ours, that is, when he isnāt getting clobbered and fumbling.
The opponent is not the one to test this against. Gonna be a long night.

I have read that comment several times, āour nil budget isnāt that limitedā not necessarily from you only, but in general. If that is the case than we really have major issues.
Yeah, I mean, itās year 1 snd our class ranking was near the top of the league. That being said, especially at the LOS, a lot of this class were busts. Recruiting rankings donāt mean everything, but they mean something and are a pretty good indicator. I follow Recruiting obsessively(i know, obvious statement) and almost all of our portal guys had at least AAC offers at a minimum and quite a few had p4 offers so itās not like we were going after guys with limited Recruiting profile. I think we messed up evaluating at a few positions. Some of that is on the staff but not all of it. Bowers and ramil at tackle have been busts. Both were pretty solid commodities in the portal. Mullen at DE was really good in ivy league but invisible here. The staff seems to be going hard after jucos in themeantime, so i think they know they missed there. I trust the staff to fix those issues but we will see

This is a tough situation for Loftis to come into. Heās not very mobile and our oline pretty beat up. I will say heās been accurate in the pastā¦just not with us so far.

Did they play too many games to use a redshirt?
I dont believe so. But Harrell is listed as a RS-Jr and Rutledge is listed as a RS-Sr, so my assumption is that they would both have to file for an exception / exemption to get the year back.
