Thanks for the info. I’m intrigued at how well you guys started playing after you fired Houston. Did the team quit on him? Kind of glad he didn’t coach us. Came in with a lot of hype but just can’t seem to match it on the field.

Honestly I think his main issue was his stubbornness and wanting to win games 6-3. If that’s the style you want to win with then your team has to play mistake free football. Hopefully he finds his groove again because he had won everywhere else he’d been. We’ll see if Blake ends up being a better head coach but I have liked the aggressive style of play he’s brought and he seems to allow the coordinators more freedom to implement their game plan instead of trying to dictate their every move.

Albin’s quote on starting Wilcke is startling

I assume you mean this one?

“His ability to move in the pocket. He’s got that gunslinger mentality,” Albin said of Wilcke. “It’s like Brett Favre. That’s good sometimes, but you’ve got to know when to hit the gas and hit the brake.”

Yes my bad, I should have quoted it myself.

I would hope the coach would say something like “he’s our guy” at least for the week. But to tell the press of all that we’ll probably see the both of them is so discouraging especially for the locker room

I don’t think he meant we would definitely see both of them. I took it as saying the way things are going with injuries we could see Loftis again. I’m sure if Wilcke plays like he did at USF he will not be taken out of a game for Loftis.

Yeah I took it as this season has been shit with injuries so don’t be surprised to see Loftis at some point.

Injuries seem to be a trend with the program. Anyone have insight to our facilities in terms of equipment regarding recovery and overall staffing of trainers, etc.

Are we way understaffed and have a shortage of recovery tools/equipment? I’m wondering if we are playing in the American with facilities that match fcs programs.

We have full access to the US Performance center on campus that olympians use. They specialize in strength & conditioning and rehabilitation

Sean Brown had mentioned on Highway 49 that he would be replacing the turf with grass at JRS as soon as he could afford to. Said practicing on the grass practice fields was much easier on knees and ankles. Not sure if he was not fond of our turf or turf in general.

The only problem with that is that most practice facilities (all IPFs) are turf. We still seem to be excessively injury prone. I don’t understand it.

To me, Loftis seemed to be thinking “I won’t have much time, I’ve got to find something fast or throw it away”, while Wilcke was thinking “ they are going to be attacking me, I’m going to attack them before they can attack me.” I’d call that a gunslinger mentality.

I don’t understand it either. Brown was discussing the difference between Biff who practiced in the stadium and Albin who has utilized the grass practice fields more often. Brown definitely preferred the practice fields and raved about the quality of grass surface.

I hate the turf. In our climate it’s stupid. I get the ease of maintenance and now with field hockey but turf is never as nice as grass.

Also looking at you Tepper.

My daughter trained at the U.S. Performance Center when it was located in Piper Glenn. We like it, but it always depends on the trainer. They had a couple great trainers, but also had a lot of recent college graduates.

in other words, the name of the location does not matter, it is all about the trainer you are working with.

clt assumes we need a field hockey stadium before we can get grass at the rich

and new turf is on the way…
