Today’s “Top 766” currently lists 34 FCS teams and 4 D2 teams as better than the Niners. Thanks for a great year, Tim.
But it could be worse, we could be UMass.
Did anyone honestly have high expectations for his first year? We have been in the basement for a decade.

I thought Rice would be a win. Temple has definitely been a surprise. They are playing some good ball.
I expected us to be able to beat the quality teams we beat with a “bad” coach. Like Rice, Temple, even App is equal to an ECU type last year. Memphis won on last second heave or it’s 6 wins. No I didn’t expect a bowl berth but not MASSIVE regression either.
If Rice and UAB don’t miss game winning relatively short field goals it’s 3 wins. And if Purdie doesn’t get injured, forcing Ivey to play against GW it could have been 2 wins. We barely won more games than the one game we barely lost.
I was hoping for more than one win but with the shitshow that last year was I had no expectations. It was going to be a rebuild. Was I hoping for 5 wins? Yeah. Was I expecting it? No.

If if if, that’s college football. Ifs happen both ways, for all teams. Fact of the matter is we won 5 games, 4 FBS. Now we’re heading to 1 game, 0 FBS, and in no world is that “expected” regardless of how deep the rebuild.

No we have not been in the “basement for a decade” We finished mid pack in conference last season, with a 4-4 conference record.

Not high expectations but this has been far worse than I expected. This may end up being the worst team we ever fielded. In my worst nightmares I didn’t think it would be this bad. 4 TD underdogs to North Texas this week…brutal.

Exactly, if you look at the rankings, we are seriously challenging UMess to be the worst FBS football team in the country. After winning 5 games last year.

Don’t forget Sam Houston, like UMass also winless and the owner of some pretty paltry home crowds at kickoff as a result.
