Yeah I talked to Kelly a few weeks ago and she said they were still waiting to see where construction equipment was going and what open areas they will have. I am sure we will figure something out. We might have to get creative.
The guys from that web gardening site shouldn’t be too bad.
The normal Ohio schedule is:
- One 0:1 P4 game (Money game on the road). That would be Ohio State
- One FCS team That would be Gardner-Webb.
- Two 1:1 with a G5 teams or lower tier P4 teams
WV would not agree to a 1:1 game, but they did agree to a 2:1 series. That’s not a good deal for Ohio, but did get a P4 team into Athens. In order to offset it, they had to have a second 0:1 money game, that being Rutgers. The end result is an unusually difficult schedule.
Exactly. It might not be a “Green-White game”, where they keep score, but it will be some kind of scrimmage, and no doubt other activities.
Agreed. I have never been a big fan of the spring game other then our inaugural one. The tailgating is usually good though.
Yup, I always look forward to the Spring Games for the tailgating.
Even the deck on one-side is going to make it look so much better.
An added level is gonna make the current look, look really really pathetic.

Anyone confirm the Appy St. game is not included in the season ticket package and if so when do they go on sale? Didn’t that game move to a Friday slot ?
They are not included but not sure of the date. I’m sure FSL/Season Ticket owners will be able to grab them before the general public though.
Some time in February.
We have 6 home games still and then the App St game is at bank of America stadium
Tickets are outside of our control - both the offering date and the amounts.
I know the school is trying to line up a couple thousand tickets for our students for free, but we (school) still have to actually buy them.
Season ticket holders will get offer, but don’t expect a break on prices.
It’s definitely not included in the season ticket package.
For those that are bored, and want to imagine next year, you can find the full Ohio-Miami MAC Championship game on YouTube. It’s a perfect example, of what Albin tries to do, and does do against a very, very good Miami team. Imagine that the team in green and white is a different team in green and white. While some of the success comes from great individual plays, there are also some patterns.
On offense, you’ll see a ball-control offense:
- A methodical offense that is patient, which changes the play at the line of scrimmage
- Multiple formations, with lots of misdirection, and handoffs mixed with fake handoffs. While there are no reverses here, expect one now and again.
- TE’s lined up in the backfield, behind the OT. Can be lead blocker or receiver from there
- An offense focused on getting 5 yards or more on first down, then getting the first down
- A physical offensive line, with lots of pulling guards/tackles, and blocking TEs
- A solid use of the running backs, who follow the blocks up front for consistent yards
- An occasional option, often to the short side, often in key situations
- Naked bootlegs, where the RB and Oline goes one way, and the QB takes the ball alone the other way
- Draw plays are not uncommon, could be to the RB or a QB draw
- And, most of all, long, punishing drives that eat clock, and wear down the defense. Miami had the ball for only 70 seconds out of the first 14 min in the 2d quarter, and their defense was showing it at the end of the first half
On defense you’ll see:
- An aggressive defense that is focused first on stopping the run
- Inside DL are focused on holding their ground, and preventing an OL push downfield, and keeping the OL off the linebackers
- DEs usually penetrate and disrupt, but sometimes drop into pass coverage
- LBs With the DL holding their ground, the LBs are kept free to move laterally to the ball
- A variety of blitzes and fake blitzes to keep the QB from having all day
- With the aggressive play up front, the CBs need to be good, as they will be 1 on 1 often. There is usually only a single safety. As a result, Charlotte will give up some long TDs if a CB gets beaten.
- No prevent defense, even with a big lead the defense stayed aggressive
With Fitch as OC, who runs more of a pro-style offense, and with different QBs, the offense may look very different next year. It looked very different in 2022 with Rourke, a pure passer at QB. Some things will no doubt stay the same, particularly the ball control concepts, and the physical O-line. The nice thing is that Appy St. will have no idea what to prepare for. Will the offense look like a pro-style Fitch offense, or like an Albin option offense? Or, will it be somewhere in between, with a mix of both? I have no idea, and neither will Appy St.
And here is the full 2 hour version:
Myself, I like to watch the OL ’
Keep in mind that Miami had an exceptional defense. The most that they gave up in any other game last year was 28 by Notre Dame, which had a pretty good team.
