No doubt some schools could match or beat a 2nd round pick’s money for a single season. Of course, first round picks get a 4-year guaranteed contract so that has to be taken into consideration.
Cooper Flagg isn’t returning for a second year in Durham because he will make around $14 million year one in the NBA. Plus it’s been estimated he would lose $75-125 million in salary on the backend by delaying the start of his NBA career.
Sounds like playing for Michigan is plan B for Lendeborg:

The teams have to pick up their 3rd and 4th year options. That has to happen yearly until they are eligible for a rookie extension. Which is sometime in the fourth year I think.

But we are not talking about a mid to end of the first round player. The sooner he get’s his thru his first contract and then to the “super max” renewal he will make considerable more. Then the next super max. Look at Lamelo, he is going to get another supermax when he is 28 yrs old. Lebron has make 1/2 billion by entering at 19 and getting 4 max deals. Start the renewal clock as soon as you can.

The highest I see him mocked on a quick check is 26th.
He could easily slip into the second round.
