On Smith, at Ohio, I have no clue. Apparently someone posted a few weeks ago that there was some serious issue coming with Smith, but the post was deleted for violating board policies. The poster has just posted an “I told you so”. Others seem to think Smith has some personal issues to deal with. I’m staying out of it, but yes, Smith was an outstanding offensive coordinator. On the other hand, he’s not a QB coach, so he wouldn’t be a direct replacement for Fitch.
Good ol’ Kiffin. Good ol’ Saban. Good ol’ ESPN. Just a bunch of good ol’ boys! ![]()
Bill Freider did this exact same thing in 1989. While still the basketball coach at Michigan, he took the Arizona State job and said he would coach Michigan in the tourney. Schembechler told him to GTFO (A Michigan man will coach Michigan) and Steve Fisher went 6-0 and lead Michigan to a natty. This isn’t new and happens every year at the G5 level. Calm down folks.
Funny thing is Fisher is actually an Illinois State alum. Member of the Redbirds 1967 NCAA D-II Final Four team.
Directly related to coaching change:
I realize the QC’s own Allysa Lang works for the SEC Network but listening to the ESPN Radio clip of her fawning over “Lyin’ Lane” at his introductory LSU press conference is borderline nauseating.

At least her SECN colleague not so gullible.

Brett being a bit douchey to make that joke.
See that the interim and Mo State HC were also finalists. Anyway, Englehart is going to have his work cut out for him and since he’s coming from my father’s alma mater, wish him all the best - except when facing the Niners, of course!
Do you think the coaching fraternity thought the Franklin firing was BS and don’t want to work for the AD there?
