If it meant good things for mid majors, I would be happy. But I think it’s just the next step in the power leagues squeezing us out entirely. They want all the money and exposure. All of it. That will be the end result of this most likely.

If Lunardi’s projections about at large bids are anywhere near reality, then that’s really sad. But exactly what Sankey and Petetti want as they get closer to an eventual goal of squeezing out non-power teams altogether.

The main argument is that it would bring men’s college basketball in line with every other level of the game. The NCAA actually used 10 minute quarters in the early 1950s before reverting to halves in 1955.
No, it’s about adding commercial time. They’ve already said they’re going to do it.
The people that run college sports hate the fans.

Of course the current powers that be will find a way to monetize the quarter system to the nth degree. Doesn’t seem to be any limits to the greed and corruption that rules the day. Take a well meaning idea and - in the end - make it all about the bottom line.
