This is a very poorly written statement from the SoCon supporting NCAAT expansion. What jumped out for me is they think the Big Dance should include 25% of D1 schools. That would be 92 teams!!!

The only way I would ever support tournament expansion is if were structured to guarantee more spots to mid and low majors that didn’t win their conference tournaments. And I would bar the NCAA from seeding any conference champion in a play in game. Let those shitty sub .500 “power conference” teams have to play their way in.

Of course what I am describing is about fairness and preserving the appeal of the tournament. Those things have nothing to do with why it’s actually being expanded - which is to give the power conference schools more money.
