We need to recruit that Memphis pitcher

I honestly thought we had enough pitching this year to make some noise, and it turned out to be our Achilles heel.
Ironically, the past couple weeks, pitchers that didn’t pitch all year had our best outings…other than CC and Stanton.

Disappointing end to a season that fell well short of expectations. That ten game losing streak did them in. NCAAs are a must for next season.

Their pitcher came into our series last week with a 7.53 ERA. After shutting us down in 2 games he has lowered it nearly by a whole run to 6.59. I don’t understand it, but he pitched the 2 best games of his career against us, in 1 week.

Disappointing end to a disappointing season. At least we put up a fight after we finally got to their bullpen but we pretty much ended the season how we started it. Digging a deep hole in the 1st inning and trying to catch up the whole game, or the whole season for that matter.

Our pitching coach is Robert Woodard & our pitching coordinator is Cam Hansen. Hansen is in the volunteer assistant role. The NCAA now allows a 3rd paid assistant, but I don’t think that we have added that position on our staff.

Ultimately results fall on the coaching staff. This year was disappointing but last season we led the conference in every pitching statistical category.

We lost some significant arms from last year, but the guys we had coming back and the guys we recruited brought high expectations. The reason expectations were high is because we had seen these guys have success. They were proven.

For whatever reasons, the guys we were counting on, did not meet expectations this season. Just look at our opening weekend rotation and how that rotation changed as the season went. Our opening day starter only pitched 8 innings for us all season. That is pretty significant.

I haven’t been following closely. I thought we started really strong, what happened?

Short answer: Our pitching was very inconsistent & our best position player broke his hand and missed the majority of conference play.

East Carolina drug our butts around the field for three days and we lost all confidence after that. The sad part is, East Carolina wasn’t as good as they usually are.

What happened to Carson Bayne? Know he started season slow despite big expectations from him as graduate. Did he get dismissed from team? Noticed he was off the roster midway through the year.

He retired from baseball sometime after the 2nd weekend I believe.
