Someone is trying to get Mit Shah to write another check to Wake Forest.
They don’t have as much NIL money as the top of the ACC, but they have more than 80% of the D1 schools.
I think we have to wait to see what’s going to happen with the proposed regulation in Washington. I think that is why you are not see people getting scooped up quickly my a lot of programs. They are proposing 1 free transfer and after that you have to sit out a year, and they are proposing a 25 yr age limit on players. Basically they want to force contracts that are enforceable. IMHO
Shah has definitely been a generous donor to his alma mater. Would think he’d prefer bankrolling an NCAAT caliber team instead of the non-paricipant they’ve been for the past decade. 2026-27 is likely make it or break it for Forbes but then most thought the same about this season.
In addition to us, Lindsey has also made an official visit to Fordham - where former Niner assistant Kevin Smith is now on staff.
Lindsey is from Massachusetts, so perhaps proximity to home could play a part here. Hope not because seems like he’d be a fav for starting PG for us.
Looks like a lot of pics in our gear…….
Not necessarily with jizzle and possibly the other cincy guy
Was thinking James more of a SG. Are we in the running for Day Day Thomas as well? If so, would he need a waiver to play next year?
As mentioned previously, Niners re-offered after Miller was hired.
Little used B10 big man on our radar.

Played sparingly during 2025-26 season, so not finding any substantive vid. Following is from senior year of HS ball in Pennsylvania.
Spoke to Coach Miller last night at the Green Jacket reception and he confirmed that he got two more commitments yesterday. Would not give their name since they have not signed the dotted line yet, but he was happy and expected a possible 3rd this weekend.
Also confirmed that Bonk is getting >$2m offers from various schools in top conferences so he is GONE.
Such a mindblowng number for someone that is a decent, but not spectacular player. I would have loved to have kept him but not for that kind of money. I think he’s really going to struggle in conferences that have bigger, more athletic, and more physical big men.
I remember being a fan of college, amateur athletics. And, when paying players would get your coaches fired and programs penalized or suspended. Is there anything disallowed anymore?
Just like the rest of the world, the inmates are running the asylum. The heads of us old timers are exploding over this and other crap.
Should we change the name of this thread to “2026 MBB Acquisitions?” I’m not sure recruiting is appropriate anymore.
I’ve let it go. I’m over it. No sense in grieving over crap I can’t do anything about.
The tide is turning in Washington, but our country’s great hamster wheel that we call Congress will have to actually do their jobs and pass a bill on college athletics. Hopefully this is one of the last offseasons where we have to go through this
Question: Do we have any Coaches or Ref’s on this board? I have been wondering has the pressure put on kids in sports now just gotten out of hand? The parents were ridiculous 10-12 yrs ago when my kids were in youth sports and that was when they were just trying to get there kids a free ride to college. I can’t imagine what youth basketball or football games and practices are like with the parents now with all this money being thrown around at the next level.
I’m a soccer dad. I can tell you that it’s just as bad if not worse these days. Especially at the high level clubs. I would say that the exposure for college scholarship opportunities is even more relevant than the obscene money being paid into the system, though it’s ridiculous on both fronts. Cannot imagine hoops or football being any different.
My son has friends who got recruited into a European club’s system (they’re training / living in Germany). It’s so much better how they develop young talent. It’s embarrassing that we have turned youth sports into a money making machine here rather than one designed to teach kids and produce top talent. Our priorities are so far out of whack.
