49er Club Email

Wow!!!

What great timing. They’re sending out year-end 49er Club emails asking for contributions (got mine today).

I would LOVE them to get a truckload of replies to this email stating ā€œYou will get nothing more from me…not until Phil & Judy are gone.ā€

They’re getting at least one of those from me!

clt says to support baseball!

This. You can donate to the Grand Slam Club and all the money goes solely to baseball, and there is nothing Judy can do about it.

Judy is NOT our biggest baseball fan.

I responded with a simple ā€œThanks for the email but no more donations will be made until there is serious change within the AD. I no longer want to throw away money.ā€

CC’d Phil & Hummer

I’m going to keep buying chips - need them to play.

Here’s my reply

I have already notified the Chancellor but I will no longer purchase any tickets nor donate any money until there is leadership change or significant public declaration of a new direction of commitment to Charlotte athletics.

The current Chancellor and AD do not share my values of a commitment to excellence in athletics as a way to promote school pride and brand identity. I have long ā€œinvestedā€ my hard earned money back to my alma mater’s athletic foundation entrusting that my money would be used to further drive similar values. Since it becomes more and more apparent with each year’s continually TOLERATED poor performance on the field and reinforced with each public interview that the Chancellor or the AD gives to various media outlets…that my money is DEFINITELY not being used to support ideals or values anywhere near my beliefs….I can no longer contribute until new leadership or a new public plan for a significant change of direction are announced.

Thank you.

Feel free to attach my email to Phil to your replies. Can’t speak for donkeyjaws but I bet he’d give permission for his to be used too, if you prefer a shorter one. His is great.

Keep piling on.

I think I’m going to sarcastically donate $15 …$1 for each year since Phil has been here to represent how much each year has been worth under his leadership.

$1.11 for Brad
$0.27 For Judy

$1.11 for Brad
$0.27 For Judy
Love it!!
Even better!!

A total of $1.53 but itemized as $1.11 for Brad…$0.27 for Judy… and $0.15 for Phil

You’re right…I was thinking the 5 in 2005…getting old.

New math: 1.11 + .27 + .12 = a cool $1.50 donation this year

I received an email a couple days ago from the 49er Club asking me to rejoin. I thought about it for a couple of seconds, and just hit delete. Felt bad for a couple of seconds because I love this school, but I got over it pretty quick. I’ll just donate to Belk College of Business and carry on.

I thought about responding with a simple ā€œNope.ā€

Instead, the e-mail just happened to catch me in the right mood, and the reply turned into multiple paragraphs of unloading from a very personal standpoint. Phil, Hummer, and the Board of Trustees were CC’d. Whether they read it or not, I can’t say I didn’t give them a chance to do so.

The tone-deafness of sending out letters asking for money in the middle of #FJR is so rich.

serious WTF moment. Meme away

Seems appropriate to send an end of year reminder email towards the end of the year…

Yep, they do this every year. i’m guessing they are getting many more responses this time though!!

I’m sure they were dreading hitting send on that e-mail.

Yeah, I understand the email, I truly do. Timing in life is everything though.
