Horrible start to the season!
I didn’t see the two exhibitions, so this is all I have to go off of aside from the reported scores of those matches.
This team did almost nothing as well as last year’s team. Passing game was compromised of sloppy execution and poor decision making… our midfield play was really sloppy, we never controlled the game. Our backline looks slow and untalented with no leader, and our strikers couldn’t finish any looks. About the only decent thing I saw was a little bit of wing play. That’s it.
How these guys beat any Clemson team is beyond me. Are we sure we didn’t play the local high school?
Ga Southern was not good. They played the long ball almost exclusively (almost no build up), countered every time they could (long ball again), and played as dirty as they could (grabbing, pushing, tripping)… All the cliches of a less talented team trying to muck the game up .. except it worked. They beat us. Decisively. There was never any moment in this match where it looked like Charlotte was going to win.
Apologies for all the negativity. That was not fun. Bad bad soccer.
