Hard to believe 9/11 was 23 years ago. I can remember it like it was yesterday.
Yep. Still very fresh in my mind and heart. Mind blowing, but kids in high school weren’t even born and probably most college students weren’t either, and if they were they’re too young to actually remember it. It’s HISTORY to all of them.
That’s so bizarre. Like the moon landing was to most Gen Xers - very recent, but still history.
Just watched this 13+ minute mini-doc about a true 9/11 hero - Welles Crowther. Definitely recommend it.
First time hearing this story about United Flight 93:
“Let’s roll!”
I have a pet theory that 9/11 hit the nation so hard because so many people had been there before, in the actual towers.
I was there the summer before with my pregnant wife and our only son in her womb.
My family and I have been in two other places where there have been terrorist attacks later in time. One place in London and the other Paris.
That really freaks me out to think about it.
Thinking about this all also makes me realize how lucky I am.
To live in this country and to have the life I have is a blessing.
We owe so much of our quality of life to the people who form the bedrock of our society like the first responders who leapt into action on 9/11.
