LOL I was thinking that same thing.
I’m not sure top A10 schools would want to join the new Big East. Maybe Saint Louis because they have been dying to leave. I’m not sure the nBE would be elite without Temple, Cincy, Memphis, SMU, UConn. 5/7 C7 schools were predicted to finish in the bottom 6 this year. That sounds pretty weak to me.
Add in a recruiting hit due to the loss of exposure against those big name programs they are leaving and the nBE could trend downward even further in the coming years.

- The power of Catholics
- If Xavier, Dayton, SL, Butler and a few others go then basically you are trading the bottom of the A10 for the C7 group which includes Marquette and GTown
I would bolt in a hurry if I were them.
If C7 can add XU, SLU, Creighton, Dayton and Wichita State, it’d be pretty stout.
A10 board is hearing x and slu or x and butler to basketball big east.
A10 without temple and x ain’t good.
I’d guess SLU, XU and Butler for sure. Dayton beging to get in.
A10 is screwed. We played the right cards by getting out.
Not so fast… http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/8745235/seven-schools-agree-leave-big-east-debating-process-source-says who knows where this will end.
The list of 7:
Georgetown, Marquette, Villanova, DePaul, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall.
Am I missing something? Even if not good this year, that group looks pretty strong to me with strong alumni and fan bases. Add in that that group would probably like to poach Temple, X, Dayton, Butler, SJU, and/or SLU (or even all 5 to make that league 12), would these A-10 teams want to be in a league with the BE defectors or with the following:
Duquesne, Fordham, GW, LaSalle, URI, Richmond, St Bonaventure, VCU

Temple has cast it’s lot with the football schools. I’d grab Butler, SLU, X and one of the Richmond schools and maybe UMass.
You’re right Tintin. Side note that seems would be an added bonus if we could end up with Temple (as well as Cincy, Memphis, etc.) in a new FB inclusive conf.
UMass has an FBS team.

They didn’t meet the 15000 attendance requirement and might reclassify to
FCS.

But GU, Marq, and Vill., are better (though they too have arena issues that URI, Richmond, VCU et al don’t have). The bigger issue is probably less the overall quality of the league and more the chance for those other schools to sever ties with Fordham and La Salle. How much better shape would the A10 be if they’d never invited those two in?

The following quote in the Dayton Daily Journal made me wonder when referring how much the Dayton Flyers or any other team would be projected to make if they joined the Catholic 7 basketball conference.
“Each program is projected to rake in more than $1.5 million annually, compared to the roughly $350,000 doled out by the A-10.”
How much are we going to make in CUSA compared to the A-10? I would think we will make more in CUSA than the A-10 simply based on the additional TV revenue from football. Anyone know the exact numbers?

Thanks for sharing your research. Interesting stuff. More proof that NO ONE NOW KNOWS what’s going to happen FOR SURE in the next few years. It will have to play itself out and our AD needs to keep up on all of it to assure we can be in the best possible position as time goes on. The instability will make most everyone speculate, worry, and get mad. This WILL be a roller coaster ride for sure. What our teams need to do during all this chaos is concentrate on beating whatever teams we play in any sport in whatever conference we’re in and not get distracted by things that are beyond their control.
Dayton, Xavier, Creighton, SLU, Butler - That’s your ideal for the C7 to poach, although DePaul sucks in everything, as I believe SH and Providence do. The A10 is the obvious place to poach from.
