My kind of game. The winning run scored from 1st base on a bunt play botched by the opposition.
There was a critical moment at the top of the inning, too. The bases were loaded with 2 outs and the 3-4-5 batters coming up. But Xavier’s bullpen was depleted from their doubleheader yesterday, so they had to use their starting shortstop in relief.
His backup (a .176 hitter with 17 strikeouts) came to the plate in the 3-spot in the lineup and struck out swinging. Otherwise, the inning (and the game) could have turned out differently.
Very enjoyable game. The whole school should be proud of this team.

I was about to say… their starting shortstop happens to have 10 saves an an ERA under 2.

Why doesn’t the school get some shirts printed up for this? We win a lot of A10 titles. Seems to me there is plenty of opportunity to market our success.
