Great article! Thanks for sharing.

I don't know about pet project BUT Judy & co. have done a great job with the program...turning it around from the Ed Baldwin days. 3 great hires.

Congrats Lady Niners!!! Another A-10 title for the Niners!

:lmao:

ok

Awesome. This team came to win the A10 tourney. Smashed Duquesne and got revenge on Temple, and no way we were gonna lose today. Great coaching adjustments in the second half…Richmond was terrible against the press and when they pressed we broke it like it was nothing. Way to go ladies!!

Now, on to be National Champions!

I wish I could have been there tonight, but I’m on Knotts Island visiting Shannon’s family. We turned the game on at Bay Villa, the local watering hole… it was interesting how quicky this redneck (and damn proud of it!) bar in the middle of nowhere became a rowdy sports bar. A few guys at said bar want me to bring Traci Ray back with us next time… maybe I’ll be able to get her to autograph a picture to hang in the bar.

Awesome win, way to go ladies!

Way to go ladies!

That was freakin sweet today! CONGRATS LADIES!!!
I’ve said it several times already, but dammit I wish I’d seen more games! This team kicks ass!! We better damn well be seeded higher than 11, but I don’t think it matters with this team. They are ready to go out there and beat some ass. I sure hope I get to watch them for several more weeks to come. They are just too much fun to watch!!
:49ers::49ers::49ers::49ers::49ers::49ers::49ers:

 1. I am so proud of our ladies!!!

 2. I dare you seed us as 11… sucks for the top seeds

 3. We shouldn’t have to be ONLY talking about the ladies team.

 4. Please stay for a couple years Coach Aston!!!

Great game, great coaching, great players. Maybe I should have gone to see the women instead of the men this year!

Wow, what a great game! I enjoyed it from 104, and was very proud of our ladies. The discipline they showed and the in game coaching skills of KAston was great! They deserved that win! Go Niners!

QFT. Karen never panics, and is a great in-game coach. Very under control. She did a good job of reining in Traci and Shannon yesterday when turnovers were getting the best of us.

I’m excited beyond belief.

Congratulations for a great game and tournament for our women’s team and coach. Tracie, Erin, and starters were great as usual but it was especially rewarding to see the emergenge of our next great star: Shannon McCallum!

This was an absolutely excellent showing for the women’s program this week!! Two blow out wins against high quality teams and a hard fought victory in the championship game. Coach Aston is both an excellent motivator and in-game strategist. She made some terrific adjustments to get our niner’s back into the game. They can play in an uptempo style, as well as execute in the half court game. I watched this team play a couple of games through out the season on tv and I can tell you that they never dissapoint. They play hard and smart. Now if only their male counterparts could learn from last nights victory. Hopefully we can get atleast a 7 seed in the big dance.
I agree - I said the same thing about Amanda Butler.

But nooo, women can’t coach men’s sports.

However, it’s OK for men to coach women’s sports. Because - men are smarter than women? I guess? :tumble:

Do you even comprehend how amazing it would be if a women coached men to the NCAA Tournament? It would be an instant national-sensation with every game aired on TV.

Umm… women have coached mens teams before. There just arent that many women going for the mens coaching jobs. Heck, there arent even enough women going for womens coaching jobs. Its actually gone backwards, where at one point there were alot of female coaches in womens bball, and now there arent many.

btw, this picture FTW. Shold be in our next NN.N banner!!

and this one

congrats to the lady niners! i wish i could have been there to support in person. what a great day for the program and for the university.

DON’T FORGET TO WITNESS THE POWER OF THE TRACK TEAM TOO!

When will the brackets be announced?
3 coaches in 6 years and they still haven’t missed a beat…hopefully we can hang on to Karen!! I suggest you email her or stop her next time you see her and just thank her. It’ll go a long way towards keeping her in Ninerland…
