Hey Run -
For the oft-forgotten A10 team named ‘Charlotte’, I dunno if Omar Carter will be joining the team in '10. Shane Williams may walk-on in '09 via Montreat transfer, though.

is it too late to add walk ons? i think shane williams would be a good practice team guy for our guys to go against. he is big, strong and athletic and has played basketball at the collegiate level.

Mack has pulled in 5 top 150 players in 5 months. We haven’t had that many in our 5 years in the A-10.

Explorers get commit from another big in Matt Lopez out of New Jersey…
Saint Louis gets first 2010 commit in 6-6 SF Dwayne Evans out of Naperville, IL. Rated 3-stars by Scout.
Updated to remove Guyn from the list.
In other A-10 news, GW picks up first 2011 commit in 6-9 C/F Erik Copes of Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia), the 2009 Pennsylvania Class AA champs. (BTW, his uncle, Roland Houston, is an assistant for the Colonials, so not sure if this one will stick if Hobbs is no longer coach at Foggy Bottom 2 seasons from now!)
Philly.com: High Schools - Imhotep’s Copes commits to George Washington
Owls get first commit for 2010 in 6-9 C/F Anthony Lee of Orlando.
BTW, the Owls are also in the running for 6-1 PG Tyreek Duren (Philadelphia Neumann-Goretti H.S.) who will chose between Temple, La Salle, and UMass.
Duquesne get commit from 5-10 PG Mike Talley, who picked the Dukes over Providence.
Two more commit to A-10: 6-2 SG Billy Baron [Worcester (MA) Academy] to Rhody and 6-2 combo G Mike McCall [Foreman H.S., Chicago] to Saint Louis.

Jeeze, another Baron. Great. How many sons does this guy have?

Just two. Billy had taken visits to Davidson and Rutgers, but in the end decided to play for dad (apparently against the advice of older bro Jimmy!). Of course, the question is how much longer with Jim Baron last at URI if he doesn’t get the Rhody Rams back in the Big Dance.
Is it just me or do we have no recruiting news to speak of? Other than the Guyn situation, I would love to hear something positive right about now
Flyers complete their 2010 class with a commit from 6-7 wing Devin Oliver out of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Picks UD over offers from hometown Western Michigan, as well as Butler, Iowa, and SMU.

In other A-10 recruiting news, La Salle and Temple are still waiting for Philly-area 6-0 PG Tyreek Duren to make his decision between those Big 5 schools.

Staying in Philly, St. Joe’s received a visit from 6-7 PF Ronald Roberts of Jersey City (St. Peter’s Prep) during the dedication of Hagan Arena this past weekend. He is apparently deciding between the "SJU"s - St. Joe’s and St. John’s.
Heading northwest to Olean, NY, Bona is a finalist for the services of 5-10 PG Eli Carter, also of Jersey City (St. Anthony H.S.) and a teammate of UR-commit Derrick Williams.
Finally, having already finished 2010 and started on 2011 recruiting, Xavier is looking ahead to 2012 with a visit at first practice by Indy-area 6-3 combo guard D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera, who already has offers from X, Cincy, Indiana, UofL, Purdue, and Tennessee.
Meanwhile, no news on the Niners…
Bona gets a commit from 6-2 PG Elijah Carter of St. Anthony H.S. in Jersey City (and seems to have grown 4 inches since I last reported on him!). That makes the 2nd Bob Hurley-coached player to the A-10 in a week following 6-6 PF Derrick Williams’ verbal to the Spiders.
La Salle and Temple both get commitments – 6-0 PG Tyreek Duren to the Explorers and 6-4 SF Aaron Brown to the Owls.
