So for 2010, URI loses 3 (Cothran, Ulmer, & Moreno), signed West, Shengelia, Mabry, Lockridge, and Vedder to LOIs, and now Perez? The math doesn’t seem to work.
If someone is released from their LOI (Lockridge is interesting since he received interest from coaches at Georgia & Boston U) and is eligible for '10, would the A10 allow that recruit to sign with another A10 team?
So far URI has signed 4 for 2010: Mabry and Lockridge to NLIs and Shengelia and Vedder to GIAs. West and Perez are in play, with a very good possibility of Lockridge being an academic casuality.
Something will have to give because as it stands, there are 14 on scholarship right now. Subtract Lockbridge and that still doesn’t leave any room for either of West or Perez without another departure. Perhaps the little used Ryan Brooks and/or Nikola Malesevic are looking for more PT elsewhere.

Just out of curiosity, does the A10 allow a signed player to go to another A10 team without having to sit out a season? I think the answer is “No”, since you’ll occasionally see an “over the 13 player limit” Big East signee wind up in the A10 (I don’t think the Big East allows signees to go to another Big East school).
I figured that Daniel West would have been someone that they’d have locked up by now. Like Dijuan Harris, he’s a 3-year juco pg who is known for his speed and quickness. A former Tennessee Volunteer who did not want to Prop 48 like Phil Jones did. Averaged over 5 apg/10ppg at Pensacola JC. Worth a look if he’s on the open market.

Not sure about A-10 rules as they apply within the same year. Eli Carter signed an NLI with Bona 2010, but was released and will prep this year instead. Among his suitors for 2011 are Charlotte, Richmond, and St. Joe’s.
As far as West, he did the Prop 48 route at UT, sitting out 2008-09 but was a “victim” of the Volunteers losing a scholarship for poor APR performance. That’s why he has 3-years of eligibility since he didn’t play in 2008-09.
Well, we had success with a Hillsborough, FL 3-year pg recruit in Harris and we had success with a Gulf Coast, FL 3-year pg recruit in Derrio. Might as well complete the trifecta. ;D
Run, not sure if you have seen this. Here is a tweet from RecruitRecon:
Don’t know how I missed this but it looks like St. Joe’s has picked a '10 commitment from Papa Samba Ndao out of Montverde Academy (FL).
moss, thanks! Still have’t seen anything official about Samba Ndao to St. Joe’s, so thus far just a couple of tweets and Rivals listing him as a verbal. Even the Hawk Hoops board is in the dark on this one and the Hawk Hill Hardwood blog has been mostly silent about it over the past couple of weeks! Would be a solid pick-up for Martelli & Co. if true.
Of course, the big question now is whether or not the Colonials will be able to hang onto 2011 commit Erik Copes since he has “blown-up” over the summer (ESPN currently rates him a 94).
Still haven’t read anything official about Samba Ndao to St. Joe’s or West to URI. Also nothing about Stokley’s visit to Bona over the weekend, though it has been reported that he will choose between the Bonnies and one other school (either SMU or Southern Miss - some confusion over acronym usage!).
Per Zagoria, looks like Duquesne could be close to signing former Fordham commit 6-6 SF Joel “Air Jamaica” Wright. Would be a nice late pick-up for the Dukes.
Also looks like Saint Louis get be getting the services of 6-11/250 C Sean Kowal, who recently graduated from Northern Illinois and has another year of eligiblity. Actually from St. Louis, so looks like the Billikens have the inside track to get him for a season. Averaged 10 ppg/6 rpg in 2009-10 for NIU.
Still no word on Samba Ndao (St. Joe’s), Stokely (Bona), or West (URI), so will post anything once I find out.
Air Jamaica has landed in Duquesne. Twitter reports stating he’s committed to them tonight.
Thanks! Added to list - again!
Had read on Vautour’s blog that Lalanne might end up at UMass after being denied admission by UGA. Minutemen had been in his “final four” prior to picking Athens over Amherst, so no surprise he’ll try to make a go in the A-10.
BTW, if DK really wants to be successful at his alma mater, he needs to ditch his AHC!
Temple adds F Jimmy McDonnell out of New Jersey. Although TU lists him as 6-10, Scouts, etc., say 6-9, so will go with that. May be a project/redshirt candidate, especially since he was headed to D-II UMass-Lowell prior to landing with the Owls!
JUCO Latiq Agard will be at St. Bona this Fall. Played JUCO at Seward County CC in Kansas and HS ball at Christ the King in NYC.
moss, thanks! Added to list and my understanding is Bona may land one more player to get their roster up to a dozen for 2010-11. Still looking for that “elusive” PG to back-up Ogo this season and take over in 2011-12.
In other A-10 recruiting news, still no word or not whether Kowal will suit up for Saint Louis this season in a one-and-done since being granted a release by NIU. And also no confirmations for Samba Ndao (St. Joe’s) or West (URI), though I’ve read the former may prep this season and sign-on with the Hawks in 2011.
Agard to Bona not a done deal. Zach Braziller (NY Post) tweeted that he’ll choose tomorrow between the Bonnies and Jacksonville State. The kid must like out of the way places because he spent the last couple of years in southwestern Kansas and is now looking to spend the next two in either western New York or the Appalachian foothills of Alabama!
BTW, related to Bona recruiting, reading that Jeff Grayer has left Fred Hoiberg’s staff at Iowa State. The Bonnies had been after Grayer’s nephew, Darius Stevens, a 6-5 SF out of Indiana whose late father played at ISU. Seems that Stevens decided to take the Cyclones offer that he would be part of the 2011 class after prepping this year, in part because his family connections to Iowa State (father Barry 2nd leading all-time scorer at ISU; uncle is the all-time leading scorer). With Grayer out (he had been hired last spring by Greg McDermott as an assistant coach, but Hoiberg only kept him on as an administrative assistant when McDermott left for Creighton), wonder if Stevens will have 2nd thoughts. Hmmm…
Another day, another possible Bona recruit. This time it’s 6-3 JUCO SF Andra Bailey of St. Louis, who spent the past couple of seasons at Allen County C.C. in Kansas.

Actually the new player is 6-4 SG Jamil Goodwin from Bloomfield, NJ who spent last year at Edmonds C.C. in the Seattle metro area.
