ESPN.com: Atlantic 10 Commitments Class of 2011

[Updated 11-1-2011]

Spiders pick up first commit for 2011 in 6-4 SG Trey Davis out of Benedictine H.S. in Richmond.

TimesDispatch.com: Benedictine’s Trey Davis commits to UR

Also getting first 2011 commitment is La Salle as 6-8 PF Jerrell Wright of Philly chooses Explorers over Temple.

Prevented from transferring to Fordham per his conditional release by Hofstra, 6-8 PF Halil Kanacevic still ends up in A-10 as a transfer into the St. Joe’s program. The 2010 CAA All-Rookie will provide the Hawks with some size, as he averaged 8.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg this past season, and had 67 blocks (2nd on team). In his first game as a collegian, he had 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks against Kansas.

SILive.com: Halil Kanacevic verbally commits to St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia

BTW, Phil Martelli is still in the hunt for former St. John’s signee 6-7 PF Ronald Roberts for 2010 as well.

Been sitting on this one for a few days waiting the official announcement. Anyway, another transfer into the A-10 as 6-5 G Jake Barnett leaves Toledo for Saint Louis. Led the Rockets in scoring at 12.9 ppg and 3-pointers made (71) as a freshman this past season, earning him a spot on the 2010 MAC All-Freshman team. Will sit-out 2010-11, then have 3 years in a Billliken uni.

Dayton picks up first player for 2011-12 in Kevin Dillard, who is transferring from Southern Illinois. The 6-0 combo guard led the Salukis in scoring at 12.3 ppg and was tops in the Valley with 5.0 apg this past season. The 2008 Illinois Mr. Basketball will have two years as a Flyer after sitting out 2010-11 and takes the scholarship forfeited by Jesse Berry per the latter’s recent legal woes.

Per Zagoria and Goodman, UMass picks up a good one in Hofstra transfer Chaz Williams. The 5-9 PG out of Brooklyn averaged 9.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 4.2 apg, and 1.6 spg for the Pride, which earned him All-Rookie honors in the CAA.

FWIW, X commit Wells named NBPA Top 100 Camp tournament MVP. Also see that he’s transferred from WofG to Hargrave for 2010-11.

What? After that article the O wrote about UNC commit and Jesus incarnate PJ Hairston and his ppg leading self I sure would have thought it would have been him? Must be a conspiracy.

UMass gets a commit from 6-2 SG John Laguerre out of New Hampshire. ESPN rates him an 89.

Per Zagoria, Xavier lands Monmouth transfer Travis Taylor. The 6-8 F averaged 17.8 ppg and 7.6 rpg for the Hawks during his sophomore season in 2009-10. Initially headed to BC, but Eagles changed their mind when they learned he had served a mid-season suspension this past year. Picked Xavier over Cincy, Arizona State, and Miami-FL.

Great land for Xavier.

Looking over the list of transfers into the A-10 who will be eligible in 2011 and a starting five of Barnett, Dillard, Kanacevic, Taylor, and Williams would be a pretty formidable group. Expect all to be impact players on their respective teams.
