[/i]ESPN.com: Atlantic 10 Commitments Class of 2012

Currently reviewing this list versus one on the A-10 board, etc., for accuracy. Can report that URI has convinced Hare to honor commitment, so kudos to Coach Hurley on that one!

Dayton cuts ties with highly-touted signee Jevon Thomas, currently ranked #139 on Rivals 150. Apparently the 5-11 PG is reclassifying as a 2013 recruit and Archie Miller has decided to not pursue him any further.

Daytondailynews.com: Miller on Thomas: ‘We wish him well’

Unless it’s because of grades I’d bet he has some teams lining up.

He is now a 2013, stature will probably increase being at QEAfor a year.

Duquesne grants signee 6-3 combo guard Willie Moore of Cincy a full release (with a rumor of him still landing in A-10 at Dayton). Leaves Dukes with 5 open schollies. Reports are that Coach Ferry will be meeting with signee 6-9 PF Donovan Jack (Reading, PA) to try and convince him to stay in the fold.

Fordham lands 6-1 Canadian PG Jermaine Myers, who chose Bronx Rams over Western Kentucky, Valpo, and Middle Tennessee.

Now up-to-date. Anyway, lots of rumors about possible incoming frosh, transfers, etc., not to mention that Jim Ferry has a lot of work to do in Pittsburgh, so will make changes as more becomes official.

Coach Hurley getting it done at URI as Jim Baron recruit 6-10 PF Jordan Hare (Rivals #120) signs his NLI, 6-8 PF Gilvydas Biruta transfers to Kingston from Rutgers (will sit out 2012-13), and 6-8 PF Mike Aaman commits to the Rhody Rams. Aaman had originally signed with Wagner and got his release when Hurley was hired to replace Baron. Averaged 22 points, 16.2 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game as a senior at Raritan H.S. in New Jersey.

Not successful on keeping Jack. Per The Reading Eagle piece linked below, some of the schools that began contacting Jack’s coaches following Ron Everhart’s dismissal include La Salle, St. Joe’s, St. Bona, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and VCU. [FWIW, I think Jack would have to sit out a year if he chose another A-10 school, which is probably why Moore is considering VT, South Carolina, etc., at this point.]

Is there a recruiting thread on this board where Va Tech isn’t on the kid’s list? They must have the hardest working staff in the business…and the lowest batting average.

Dayton gets a commit from 5-11 PG Khari Price of Slidell, LA. Per Scout, he chose Flyers over offers from Mississippi State, South Florida, TCU, and Western Kentucky.

Jim Ferry gets his first recruit at Duquesne in 5-10 PG Derrick Colter from Upper Marlboro, MD. Averaged 22.5 ppg as a senior and was 2nd team All-Met (Washington, D.C.) selection. Chose Dukes over High Point and Western Kentucky (also had an offer from former George Mason coach Jim Larranaga, but rescinded when Paul Hewitt took over in Fairfax).

GW adds 6-9 C Kevin Larsen of Montrose Christian School in Rockville, MD. The native of Copenhagen, Denmark chose the Colonials over Temple and Providence, among others (Rivals also lists offers from Richmond, Ole Miss, and Va Tech).

Coach Hurley lands a stud JUCO in 6-3 SG Xavier Mumford out of Iowa Wesstern. The New Jersey native chose URI over Oregon, Creighton, and Washington State. Also didn’t hurt that Hurley was his high school coach!

Zagsblog.com: Rhody Lands top JUCO Guard Munford

Bronx Rams land 6-9 PF Ryan Rhoomes from Middletown, NY. Originally signed with TCU for 2011, but was denied academic eligibility (along with 5 other teammates) when the NCAA did not approve classes taken at NIA Prep in Newark, NJ.

Anyway, a year later he choses Fordham over St. John’s, Rhode Island, Hofstra, Temple, Iona and Seton Hall.

Minutemen get a commit from 7-2 C Isaac Freeman out of Manassas, VA. Prepped at South Cent in Connecticut and chose UMass over DePaul, UCF, and Drexel.

Zagsblog.com: 7-foot-2 Isaac Freeman to UMass

FWIW, Minutemen also picked up a transfer in 6-2 SG Derrick Gordon, who is leaving Western Kentucky after a stellar freshman season to get closer to his Philly home. Chose UMass over St. Joe’s and URI. Has to sit out this coming season, so won’t have the opportunity to face the Niners unless there is an OOC game with DK & Co. after Charlotte hoops goes mid-major in C-USA.

Dukes land 6-3 SG Jeremiah Jones out of Merrillville, IN. Per the Dukes blog, had offers from the likes of VCU, Valpo, Cleveland State, and College of Charleston (and interest from Butler) as a high school senior in 2012 (rated 3-star by Rivals), but reclassified and spent last season at St. John’s Military Academy in Wisconsin.

Flyers sign 6-6 SF Dyshawn Pierre out of Ontario, who led Team Canada in scoring (17.7 ppg) at last summer’s U19 World Championships in Latvia. Per Alex Kline, chose UD over offers from Bona and Baylor.

Daytonflyers.com: SIBERT, PIERRE SIGN WITH DAYTON

BTW, also joining UD is 6-4 SG Jordan Sibert, who is transferring from Ohio State and will have 2 years in a Flyers uni after sitting out 2012-13 per NCAA rules.

Dukes land another in 6-5 SF Quevyn Winters of Milwaukee. Originally a Baylor commit (and one-time Saint Louis-target), he comes with some baggage (apparently a confrontation with a ref during his high school days) and spent this past season prepping at Evelyn Mack Academy in Charlotte.

Like Majerus, Ferry seems to be mining the Badger State for players as Winters is 2nd player from Wisconsin to commit to Duquesne in the past several days.
