wow…check out Stephane Lasme’s blocks.

More in the weekly notebooks from the A-10 and USA Today…

Among the stuff on the A-10 website:

BOMB'S AWAY Last year, Charlotte took 630 three-pointers in 29 games (21.7 per game). This year, the 49ers have already hoisted 210 treys - an average of 23.3 per game. That average is by far the leader in the A-10. As a matter of fact, 34.2 percent of Charlotte’s points come via the three.

Sweet… 1st place in team identification.

Good thing we got rid of that U.

when you miss as many shots as we do, you’re bound to have more rebounds.

GW has one more field goal than us in 132 fewer attempts

Those stats are really really bad.

It is all part of Lutz’s genius plan to make the A10 underestimate us before we crush them… right?

That is some depressing ****ing shit.

One of the saddest stat is dead last in “FREE” throw. Which could help us change the outcome of quite a few games. After all, it’s always our trade mark.

Maybe the return of Dino Brown will cataput us to #1 in 3pt FG attempts.
One of the saddest stat is dead last in “FREE” throw. Which could help us change the outcome of quite a few games. After all, it’s always our trade mark.
119 of 194 free throws, 61.3%? :scared:

Consider this… take away Leemire’s 23 of 26 free throws (88.5%) and this becomes much worse, 96 of 168, or a pitiful 57.1%. The 49ers rank nationally 293 of 326 teams in free throw percentage. Davidson ranks #2 nationally (121 of 146, 82.9%), Gardner-Webb is #3 (88 of 107, 82.2%) and Saint Joseph’s is #4 (99 of 122, 81.1%).

Others of note: #14 Rutgers, 141 of 185, 76.2%; #30 Duke, 148 of 200, 74.0%; #36 Xavier, 87 of 118, 73.7%; #41 UNC Asheville, 83 of 113, 73.5%; #43 UNC Wilmington, 88 of 120, 73.3% and Winthrop, 77 of 105, 73.3%.

Even worse is the ranking of 308 of 326 in total field goal percentage at 38.0%. The 3-point field goal percentage ranking is 200 of 326 at 32.9%.

It’s hard to believe that there are about 100 teams in the country that shoot FT’s worse than us.

49erpi, get another cup of coffee, they’re 293 of 326. That’s only 33 teams, not 100.

What have we shot in the last 5 games? I would guess somewhere in the 45% range.

Also, I was thinking about Withers’ somewhat slow start last year (anyone have stats for his non-conf and cof last year). I remember that Gregg Doyel article telling him to get inside. Hopefully, Withers gets it in gear the same way he did last year.

maybe our players should adopt cornbread’s old strategy for free throws. take a practice shot beforehand.
What have we shot in the last 5 games? I would guess somewhere in the 45% range.
Lefty, the last five games… field goals - 125 of 297 (42.1%); 3-point field goals - 48 of 116 (41.4%); free throws - 63 of 98 (64.3%).

Add to the fact that it looks like we shoot about 25% more FTs than the avg. A10 team, and that low % really hurts. Not including how many front ends of 1-1 we may miss.

Is Rod Howard around, maybe he should come in and have a clinic.
Is Rod Howard around, maybe he should come in and have a clinic.
He is still around. Now here is a guy you want hanging around practice and sitting on the bench instead of Dino Brown.

Rod could teach these kids a lot.
