Timesdispatch.com: A-10 considers expanding league schedule
I like it.
Two possible outcomes…
A) better separation, because losses mean less.
B) more clutter because teams at the top have more chances to lose on the road.
I think this will cut out games like Kennesaw State and ETSU on our schedule, so I’m all for it. I’d rather place conference games than teams like that.
“The A-10 has nine members in the RPI’s top 100. Only the Big East has more teams (12) in the top 100.”
Says a lot about this conference this year.
Current RPI per our OOC foes:
NC Central #263
Central Mich #266
Lamar #117
E Tenn St #188
Wright St #235
ECU #180
Radford #323
Davidson #71
Coppin St #226
Miami-FL #36
Arkansas #68
Memphis #19
Kennesaw St #316
Kennesaw State and Radford then.
If the top programs do not want it - it will not happen.
Does the league care what Charlotte thinks??
Well, one thing one can probably count on is that you won’t read anything about this in the Big O. Anyway…
Daytondailynews.com: A-10 might go to 18 league games
Gazettenet.com: Half of the Atlantic 10 men’s basketball coaches oppose 18-game schedule

clt wonders if mike p even knows that we are in the a-10.
The title of that article says that Major is in favor of 18 game schedule, but the quotes from Major seem like he is not in favor of it.

Hopefully that is Major’s way of saying we don’t really care - we are about to bolt anyway.
Seems the consensus on the A10 board is an 18 game schedule is a bad idea. Of course that’s from the good school’s fans that think scheduling 2 extra A10 games would have a negative RPI impact.
Guess I get to “eat crow” on this one. On the other hand, doing a piece on the proposed 18-game A-10 sked meant that Scott didn’t have to do an actual pre-game article on Charlotte @ Dayton.
Of course, there were pre-game pieces in the Big O for Samford @ Davidson and UNC-CH @ Miami-FL!
Anyway, who actually votes on the proposed changes? Coaches only or ADs only or a combination of both? Hmmm…
