All heart & hustle team

Being an old 49er, I would have to put Kevin King on the list. He was the defensive specialist on the NIT and final four teams of the 70’s. He played hard and was willing to do whatever it took to win. He put the clamps on some awfully good players.

After Massey, Maxwell and Watkins left, King was asked to be more than a role player and could not really handle that.

Without him, we might not have had those two glory years back then.
Dalonte Hill played for one year. He did have a good freshmen year as a utility player but no way that one season should get him on this list.

Versile Shaw-
I haven’t seen him on here yet though. The guy played his whole senior year with a bum knee (maybe ACL) and time after time came up with plays when we needed him.
Injuries hampered his second season if I remember correctly. Was he a juco transfer? I seem to remember much more than a season of Dalonte.

Hill played his freshman year under Watkins, and destroyed his ACL and some cartilage prior to Lutz’s first season. Returned to play on the Helliwell for 3 team before transferring to Bowie State.

Dalonte’s greatest claim is teasing us with one and done NBA Potential players.
First Dermarr Johnson and now Michael Beasley. Thanks Dalonte.

Rodney was tight with Dalonte and Dermarr as well. He stayed firm to his commitment even after being a partial qualifier. Got to give him credit for that. Demon pretty much did the same.

Gotta go with Versille Shaw and Jermaine Wililams who both basically played their entire senior years with major injuries, and never complained. Not great individual players, but they understood that their teams’ needed them. Loved those guys.
