Andre Marhold - 2009

Was in the house again tonight for the FD game.
There has to be major interest there since this is at least his second time coming to a game and hanging out with the players and coaches.
Would be a good get to add another local guy in the ever growing list of homegrown players…supposed to be one of the most athletic guys in the 2009 class.

Can we close the deal on a local big guy? Geeze, its been forever…like maybe since Withers.

North Meck’s Andre Marhold (left) looks for passing room around Vance’s Jerald Diggs Friday night. North Meck won 44-43. Robert Lahser-rlahser@charlotteobserver.com

Made unofficial visit during Temple game.

looks like preston wouldn’t have much work to do with him. He’s already ripped.

I saw Andre play tonight out at Robinson. North Meck killed us, but Marhold didn’t have much to do with it - he didn’t score any more than 10 and he didn’t pull down all that many boards. He’s very athletic, though.

Nice photo of a hang-on-the-rim dunk by Marhold on the sports front of today’s print edition of the Big O, but I haven’t been able to find it online. Too bad!

Good old ACC Wertz Jr. mentioned Marhold’s athletic prowess and mentioned it was no wonder Clemson wsa recruiting him in his observtions today.

The profile says his ball handling & passing need improvement - both of which are easily improved with good coaching.

Looks like a solid ball player.

Put this in Persinger’s thread.

New teaser on rivals:

Physically-blessed wing Andre Marhold has one team in front right now. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound junior has a pair of offers and plenty of ACC, SEC, Big East and PAC-10 interest. So who leads for the Huntersville (NC) North Mecklenburg product?
I’m guessing it’s either the Wolfpack or Clemson. Probably Clemson, since the writer is from ‘TigerIllustrated.com

This is the kid we need. I’m tired of losing out on local talent to F’ing Clemson. I think Wake might just be stacked enough at the position to stay away… If it is State I will puke.

Hickson is probably gonna stay in the draft, so they will be looking for a big guy.
Hickson is probably gonna stay in the draft, so they will be looking for a big guy.
yup State turned Hickson into a sure fire 1st rounder, to a 2nd rounder. See what UNC-R can do to a guy.

Hickson is probably gonna stay in the draft, so they will be looking for a big guy.

doubt he fills hickson’s spot. he’s only 6’6" 215, not exactly huge, or hickson-esque… I’m with survivor… It’s the tigers

Scout.com lists two offers: Clemson & Winthrop. The new teaser article says that “(t)he 6-foot-6, 215-pound junior has a pair of offers”

Considering that Andre Marhold has attended our games vs. Davidson, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Temple … you would think that we would at least offer a schollie. I mean, he attended a Charlotte-FDU matchup! That alone should deem a recruit as scholarship-worthy.

This is from a 3/22/08 rivals article:
Andre Marhold, a bouncy 6-foot-6, 215-pound from North Mecklenburg (N.C.), picked up steam as the game went along. He manned the paint well and used his strength and athleticism to make simple plays at the rim.

Stuck in between positions, Marhold has tools that can translate at the high-major level. Physically, he can compete in the paint. The question is whether or not he can make a smooth transition to the wing full-time.

Marhold said he is holding an offer from Clemson while Tennessee, Southern Cal, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Marquette and Wake Forest are also in the picture.
we’d need a miracle or for him to get mono his senior year to land this kid.

Does anybody here have a Scout.com insider account? I was wondering if somebody could copy/paste a article for me and send it to me.

there are very few people here that actually subscribe to the rivals page and probably none that subscribe to the scout page.
