Any Defense Suggestions

I have Carolina, but am worried about going up against Priest this weekend. Any suggestions on hot teams?

I had Carolina in one of my leagues too. I picked up Denver who should do well against Jacksonville this week. Washington would be a decent play against the Giants too.

Depends on who's available in your league. Throw some teams out there that you could acquire. If most of the "good" ones are gone, you could take a chance on a team like Seattle who looked surprisingly strong on defense last week.

Washington is a good choice if you can get them but I think the Giants play them close this weekend. I’m just suggesting some teams who I think may be available and ignoring some obvious choices due to them likely being spoken for. I definitely wouldn’t go with Carolina’s defense this week. Priest Holmes and Trent Green will eat them alive. One good thing is that they’ll be on the field for a long time so there will be more opportunities to pick off a pass/force a fumble. But I think the Chiefs may very well hang 28+ on the Panthers this weekend.

If you are just looking for a single-weekend fix, then just look at matchups and go with a defense that’s playing at home and facing a team with a weak running game.

JCL–how about the 49ers this week against NO or Dallas against the Browns?

Dallas would be a decent play… better than the Panthers this week anyways. I wouldn’t touch San Fran though.

Here are all of the current available defenses in my league. I am a rookie at FF so your help would be much needed.

I’m assuming you’re in a salary cap (or similar) league if all of those defenses are available.

If you’re looking for a good one-week matchup, go with Dallas or Miami. Miami only gave up less than 100 yards to Tennessee who normally throws for a ton. Palmer will struggle against that coverage. They are a little weak on the run but should be able to keep Rudi from having a huge day.

Jacksonville is another good option. They shut down Buffalo’s running game so I wouldn’t look for Griffin to repeat the superb rookie performance he had last week, especially on the road. Denver will probably look to throw and that could be good news for J’Ville.

Dallas is a good choice too, though they got completely picked apart last week. However, that was Culpepper and Dallas won’t give up that kind of performance this weekend.

I think you’d be fine with any of these three but personally, I’d probably give a slight lean towards Jacksonville, followed by Miami and then Dallas. And yes STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING SAN FRAN…on both sides of the ball.
